just curious about guys that are or have worked for them. I was there in the waste division for a week and a half and ran like all heck broke loose! I came back to my OTR company and am saved. But I keep hearing guys saying they are a good company.....atleast the 'dumptruck' division. 16 hours a day is just too much to be at home everynight, with little sleep/time to hang with wife and son/etc. Plus they wanted me to go OTR, bunk up with another driver in a hotel, everyweek and be a lead OTR guy, since I had the most OTR experience(?).....I've only been driving(OTR) for right at 3 years....not 30 haha

Hilco update: 2022. The mid-Atlantic lpg & asphault division is on life support. After a mass exodus of drivers prompted by no over time offerings, no weekend premiums, and little to no vacation considerations has the up & coming divisional off shoot on the ropes.
After Dillon left the scene & folded up shop Hilco was the anointed son to take over the market, however, due to complete mismanagement by the regional ops director the proposed 100 driver operations center in NewJersey has been shelved w/ Hilco retreating back to a Greensboro w/ their tail between their legs. In my honest opinion the failure might stem from an inside hit job but in all reality just a serious failure in the ability to hire experienced drivers & paying them at fair market value. Hilco was a Cinderella story until a gross neglect in benefits & driver compensation compared to other regional carriers caused most of the Hilco drivers to quit. With all things being equal, working 100 hours @ $ 28.00 during the FMSCA exemption & earning $ 2,800 gross is an insult when Lee Transport drivers are earning $ 4,850.00 for the same hours worked.
I think that Hilco would have dominated the market had there not been severe flaws in the operational scheme & a complete lack of corporate over site as this inclusion into the mid Atlantic floundered & failed.

I’ve never worked for Hilco. I live in NC and am aware of them there reputation has always been low pay expensive benefits and 1year service before they will even contribute to your 401k. I think they always got by offering home daily job so they could get by being stingy with pay and benefits for a lot of companies with this operating way seems to be changing guys aren’t willing to work for the low wages just to be home daily

I know for a fact that Puryear scooped up several of Dillons Drivers on the Owens Corning Contract and have covered some of the NJ Operations. But they have dropped the ball completely as well when it came to trying to open a Northeast Ohio Terminal and then a Central Colorado Terminal. I’m at my wits end with them personally and have been considering Hilco as an alternative.
