Man that's awesome! after doing OTR LTL for years, none of the companies I worked for would do that, they just kept sending the same guys, with the same screwed up directions, and the same incidents would happen. If I wasn't completely ####ed up right now, I would be over at MB to give it a go, I can live off "precarious work" for 2-3 years, to get the good stuff.

That's some great info, thanks for posting this dude, it should help a lot of people out.

I'm not from the GTA, but Absolutely no one should go work for Westcan. Everyone I know for 10+ years now, have been totally destroyed trying that place out. If you want to haul fuel, just go work for Petro-Can, Shell, COOP, DS Transport directly. Westcan and Seaboard are just the worst, lowest of the low, contractors.

My brother had that same issue, he was doing the Domino's stores with Ryder Food Services, he had to have a security guard with him for most deliveries, and if it was downtown on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday, they sometimes had a security guard in the cab, and one following in a car. His security guard was assaulted, while he was unloading at a Domino's in a strip mall down in Bowness. He came out the back door, see it going down, picked up his wheeler, and hit the guy who was fighting the guard!

that’s one thing that’s holding me back from trying out MB or ups is financially i can’t afford to try it out .Other thing is i don’t know how i will last 2-4 years being on call ,spare board and no weekends and not having the same pay check right now just too much for me .luckily my dads giving me $24k to pay off my credit card debt in may when his cottage closes . i would just have my car loan and half the mortgage and other bills so maybe then i will try a union gig out .still bugs me that ups only pays $19 a hr for feeders through

i sometimes wish i lived in the states i get jealous of seeing all the high paying ltl companies like estes and Old dominion guys bragging they bring home $100k a year with little experience. We have YRC freight but not sure if there like the american yellow

Westcan must be really desperate they had a open house with interviews and jobs on the spot and upped the hourly wage to like $42 a hour. having store directions brings me back to my loblaws ajax days they give us a booklet with all the store directions on how to get there and where the docks where.some store said daycab only so i always took a bunk truck

We do have a 40 hour guarantee no matter how many hours you get. I've heard some new guys are not working a full week and still getting paid for 40. So you're guaranteed at least $1100 to start.

YRC/Reimer here is horrible, prob works out to min wage or slightly over. Not to mention absolutely ancient equipment (almost as bad as Canadian Freightways) I heard you on not being in the US. Friend of mine does 130K/yr, running a Costco day cab store deliveries in Florida. Another guy does 120K pulling Fed Ex triples out of Reno NV and Switches in either Carlin or Elko NV with SLC drivers. Many Many success stories like that, none of them OTR BS lol.

Westcan is beyond desperate, the funny thing is, they claim to be hourly, but then dispatch tells you how many hours the run pays. So you say "ok well this is by the load pc work then" and they say "no its hourly"......yea that's what you can expect.

Do you have any more details on what's wrong with Westcan? I was looking at possibly joining them but haven't gotten any inside info to base a good decision on.
