This is copied from OOIDA info.
Starting October 1, 2009, the per diem rate changed from $52 from $59 per day.
Any trucker, who used the $52 per diem special transportation rate for the first nine months of 2009, can claim $59 per diem for the remainder of the year for travel in the U.S.
The per diem rate for meals in 2009 is 80% of $52 per day.
The per diem rate for meals in 2008 was 80% of $52 per day.
The per diem rate for meals in 2007 was 75% of $52 per day.
The per diem rate for meals in 2006 was 75% of $52 per day.
The per diem rate for meals in 2005 was 70% of $41 per day.
The per diem rate for meals in 2004 was 70% of $41 per day.
The per diem rate for meals when in Canada is 80% of $58 per day
Per Diem can only be taken when the driver spends the night away from home.
Note the last line.
Only nights away from home can be claimed under the transportation rate.
If you sleep at home that night you cannot claim that day. But if you leave home that day and spend the night in the truck you can claim it.
Also, you can claim that day even if it is spent in a dock. All that matters is that you spent the night away from your tax home for work.
So before Oct you can claim 80% of 52.00 a day, and after Oct 1 you can claim 80% of 59.00 a day.jess-juju and OliverTwist Thank this. -
upgraded today in Fontana, just waiting for my truck now then on my own!

Good Luck, I hope it works out for ya! -
Provided you're not a felon, in halfway decent health, and not a diabetic or an epileptic, they will probably take you on for school. Those are the primary reasons they wouldn't hire someone, and to be honest, Central is probably not that picky, knowing that a lot of drivers quit within the first year. I had a long unemployed stretch on my application that they didn't even blink at.truckerdan007 Thanks this.

WOW, JUST WOW...
Don't know what to say, been a lot of changes as of late.
I hope it all works out for the J's & that they continue to keep us up to date on what they are up too & I hope that Widow gets to feeling better soon. I had two surgeries on my head a few years back, you have nothing to be worried about. Its all in your head.
I too have been making few changes as of late. Swapped out my old #70 truck for a newer #99 & got myself on the new port fleet down here in Fontana. Running out of the ports in Long Beach & deliver in Vernon & Colton with a few Yuma runs during the week. Get home "most" nights or days & get a nice little salary for it. No more snow & ice for me, just sunny sky's & hanging at the beach from here on out.

I'll find out tomorrow, but I thought I heard them say that it was being serviced before I get it

I think he posted in here. I'm horribly curious, though. How do you run into a scale? They're hard to miss.
