Don't miss it one bit. I would take line haul or tanker before I ever slammed doors again.

    Yeah I might
Just have lots of questions. I don’t wanna ask the company of these because I want neutral answers.

Yeah that’s what I hear from the trucker friends I asked, at least those who are in the tanker business.
I follow smart trucking, dude from Ontario, he says that’s where the money is just it comes at a bit higher risk.
It all comes to if you know what you do you’re good.

Yeah I wasn’t looking to change companies for better pay or anything when I’ll still be doing the same reefer bs.
I want to make the jump into an entire different way of trucking.
the company knows I haven’t done tanker and they are willing to train me for as long as it takes until I get it right.

Given I’m from the Midwest they will have me concentrate in this area at first.
They haul chemicals but NOT gasoline. That I will definitely not do I’m not ready for that. Most of their loads are non-hazmat though.

I’m ok with running regional for now, eventually they will have me go southeast and the experienced guys make it out west.

hauling reefers I’ve been coast road coast otr so I’m familiar with much of these areas.

    REO6205 Thanks this.

I did the same 20 years ago and haven’t looked back!
It will be hard to get used to a few things like, load times and unload times actually mean something.
Places are glad you showed up.
    NO LUMPERS!!!!
Most places are out of town.
You are given plenty of time to make your run, if you can’t make it because of weather, traffic etc. a phone call is all it takes. No one wants to clean up a tanker wreck.

    Exactly right!
There’s many reasons why I want to move on, no big city deliveries (I’m tired of Chicago), they are ready for when you arrive most of the time, no waiting, no lumpers, no reefer running while you sleep.
It gets better: no more night driving and I get paid by the hour so no more CPM!!

I will certainly take my time.

As RockinChair said, most chemical and refineries are tight.
If you don’t know how to maneuver a trailer you better learn fast. You tear down a pipe rack or rip your trailer on a stanchion you got to answer a lot of questions!

RockinChair, Oxbow and Dave1837 Thank this.
