Don't forget "Country Bob's" beer joint next to the T/A truckstop , in Binghamton Ny ,( I-81 South, ) they had a big motel, and there was a strip club about a mile up the road with a Motel across from it too! I did get some truckin done back then, but down time didn't really bother me too much.navypoppop Thanks this.

Wasn't that strip joint called the Wooden Nickel or something like that? Been there many times while staying at the TA. That was one of the original Truckstops of America founded by Phillip Saunders.

I believe most if not all the 76 truckstops had those upstairs roomettes. Some drivers would complain that they were too small but all you needed was a bed, chair to hang your clothes even a mechanical alarm on the wall and at such a small price. Today they are all closed up or being used as storage areas.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.
