hey guys, long time no post. Widow, I hope everything goes well for you, you are in my prayers. I was just thinking about it, does your one year start when you go out with your trainer or when you upgrade and go solo? Any answers would help. I am trying to decide if is should go ahead and start with central and leave my girlfriend because she doesn't want to support me in this, or if I should wait a while longer before I start with central. I'm not sure yet either way. Also, 1bad or widow, after six months you are able to go with Kraft, in conjunction with my first question, is that 6 months after you upgrade, or six months after you go with your trainer? sorry for the long rambling post.

Hard to say if mistake or not. Only you can answer that question. Do you have family? Children that need a parent there? Are you going Solo or Team, Company or Lease Op (Read previous posts on that one!) I personally found that this lifestyle is very similar to my military experiences. You are away from home, travel a lot surrounded by people in the same condition.
    Good luck in your decision.

Thanks for the prayers to start with !!!!! Yes your 1 year starts when you upgrade same for the 6 months with Kraft. Remember to get on with kraft you have to have 100% on time pick and delivery. They just fired 10 off the kraft fleet yesterday because of being late. With Kraft it is one strike and your out! From the message 1bad got yesterday they are at risk of losing that account so they are being very stringent right now. If you don't have someone at home that supports your decision to go truckin you need to evaluate that your self only you can make that choice. Is this a girlfriend that could turn into a wife or just a girlfriend? Support on the home front makes all the difference in the world. Just food for thought on that.

Good news I think we finally found the right combo of meds to work for me. I am still in pain but no where near the level I was 3 days ago. 2 days and counting till hopefully i'm pain free.
1bad is on his way to the house should be here in a couple of hours. He will be here for a 10 then a short run to bama tomorrow and back in plenty of time to go to the hospital with me. I am sure he will check in and add his 2 cents where he sees fit. Be safe out there the loratabs and valium are kicking in so I'm gonna try to get a nap before he gets home. Hopeing maybe he will just snuggle up to me when he gets here!

I can't answer if this is a mistake or not. Only you can.

Are you willing to give up most everything you know? television, loved ones, decent food, decent bed? Are you willing to do it for a year?

The only advice I can give you, is if you're willing to give it a shot, stick it out for a year. If you don't, the full price of schooling is on your head. If you stick it out a year, you end up paying a lot less. So, if you an give up most everything you love for a year, then it's worth a shot.

All the new Guys and girls, Central is a CDL MILL, but it is one of the quickest training programs and you only have to last a year and your school is paid of!

They aren't the greatest company nor are they the worst, there are one or two below them:biggrin_2552: (Probably)

What the new driver has never had they can't miss, so the on-time bonus, the penny per mile and a few other things you didn't have so you won't miss.

Miles are slow right now it is the slow time of the year, it may pick up when produce season hits it may not.

I was talking to a Lease Op friend yesterday and he was saying that he was talking to 5 Lease guys who were thinking of turning in there truck because the miles sucked, So DON'T LEASE!

I know a few will say they turned down loads, wouldn't run or whatever, but the simple truth is unless you train and are good friends with Matt you won't get students every month and would you really want a student on your truck every month.

Solo Lease guys unless your dedicated do not get enough miles, to much dead head so your fuel Bill goes up for the week.

Central do pay a Fuel Surcharge but its 12-15 cents below the national average, your fuel stops will be at expensive places so the surcharge they pay is less, Lease Ops get no layover pay, Break down pay after 48hrs and if your dedicated you won't get detention on Coors or Kraft and the $20.00 on time bonus is also gone.

I am just looking at central for a stepping stone. I dont have the money for a local school and need to start making some money. So the little I will make now is better than nothing. I live in Oregon and the economy there is worse than most places and a job is almost nonexistant. Central will get me in right away and when I am done paying my dues to them, I will be able to work for some more local trucking companies. Right now I just need the training and experience.

widow, right now the girlfriend and i are engaged but i am pretty sure that if we were to get married that we would not last more than a year. Besides her, all of my friends and my family, especially my grandmother support me in my decision. I do not know why she will not support me, maybe a trust issue or something. My grandma really wants to see me make something of myself and finding work locally here in the north metro is not going to do that for me, especially since almost everyone i know that is looking for jobs cannot find them up here. my heart and all keep telling me i need to go to school at central and start driving, but then i have my girlfriend on my back telling me to stay home. i am ready to be on the open road and start driving for central...

to the newbees and wannabees i have posted this before and i will post it again. just remimber you are signing a CONTRACT.... A LEGAL BINDING DOCUMENT...... That if you do not finish your year by either quiting or getting fired you owe the hole price of the school $3000.00 plus Centrals attorneys fees. and court costs. and if you dont pay they have been known to attach leins to your home or car or what ever else you may own. is that worth going to school driving 3 months then decide its not for you . iys your call not mine. do what you want but dont let me be the one to say what comes after im telling you thats I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!
