My guys have all known from day one, I only have to hear about one of my trucks speeding in a construction zone let alone a ticket, and they’re done. That’s at the top of a very short list of things I will not tolerate. There are some things a Truck Driver just doesn’t do.

 

I learned from a Canadian driver that some use fish-finders to thwart radar. Yeah, that actually worked from what other Canadian drivers said. I didn't try it though.
Does that work with the newer police speed detectors?

 

Yes and no. People thought they had radar detector detectors because they were getting busted with bird dogs. It’s the radar itself. Bird dogs emit. The same as a fish finder would. They get interference from it in the radar and know somethings up. Might not get a ticket but you may have to answer some questions about the bird dog he’s convinced you have.

Fish finders are sonar-ish based. Maybe the Canadians are using a nickname for their radar detector. Radar detectors are high-frequency radio signal detectors. They are illegal in CMVs. Plenty of radar detectors also have laser detectors, but with laser once your illegal radar detector detects the laser you are already targeted.
