Of course you know what will happen...They swap you out for a guy with an empty then forget about you for a couple days, they tell the other driver you were out of hours or your truck broke down so he busts ### to get there. Yeah had that happen a time or three

Wow, been away too long....lol...A site for Central drivers only and you have to have a year to even join? Gonna be a lonely site...lmao...I have been reading along but hiding. I see people are still falling into the Central trap. Please listen to what the drivers have to say. If you have a job, do not leave it for Central. You will only be digging yourself a giant hole. A job at McD's pays more and you are home every night. I seen JJ talking about leaving a year ago and has finally made the decision to move on. That is saying something to new people. If you have no income, no family, this is a job for you. Living on the road costs more then you think. Sit back, add up the costs and what you will actually make. Most weeks after living on the road and the crap they pay, and what you have to pay them, you will have less then $200 a week to send home. Just make sure you look at all the facts and add them up before jumping in. We did this because we had no income and a family to take care of. We had to live with relatives for 4 months before we could get out on our own and scrape by. Hopefully this economy will turn around soon. Too many people are losing everything.

Well personally, I was employed full time in Real Estate (lol), part time security work and lastly part-time freight for Walmart. Was humping freight into freezer one night and observed driver standing there while we worked. That was it. No matter what the economy...people eat. Just doin time waiting for the next level. Fully understand that this is not get rich quick by any stretch.
I will challenge you that there are ways to cut the costs on the road, but they do require thought and effort. Meals in the truck stops run $15 easy. I make it a point to eat healthy, but do make trips to Walmart for drinks (espec milk) fresh fruits, trail mix and some meats. That requires some refrigeration, but the Coleman seems to handle it well. Some day...when I get the newer, more permanent tractor .... a microwave.
For the aforementioned reasons it was NOT until now that I chose to drive. -
From my experience on here, most newbies are told to stay at their current job or find a fast-food job because trucking is just so bad and there is just absolutely no money in it yet this is a truckers forum and except for those of us trying to get information on this industry - it is full of drivers.
If there was a forum that was for the previous company I worked for before being laid off, I would probably have bashed the company and told people how horrible of a place it was to work even though it turned out not to be the worst job in the world and I would most definitely be there today if work hadn't slowed down and a lot of us got laid off.
All in all, I think the veteran drivers mean very well and it's just natural to scare others off and who are we to know the difference when we've never even set foot inside a truck, terminal, or truck stop? -
I chose to do truck driving because I love trucks. Yes it can get tiring but in the end; turning a hobby into a full time job saved me stress. I used to work at a desk job and I hated it. I, being an adventurer, wanted a job that had one and one where your day was never the same. Truck driving is exactly that.

Good post Jasper_Truck!
I never try scare anyone away, I post how it was for us, not how it will be for anyone else.
I do try steer people away from the Lease as it is set up for Central to make money, not the L/O.
All the older hands have been there done that now and you either love or hate the lifestyle.
JJ and I will both miss the lifestyle but we won't miss the not knowing or having any control of how much money we will owe Central each week.jasper_truck86 Thanks this. -
gosh do ya think i've been here long enough hum nope I think I just started yesterday. Kinnda sucks I think but who cares what I have to say anyhow wouldn't be a good place for me I can't even stand the junk thats goes on here anymore.
By the way I thought this page was JJ's voteing rules it sound more like a Central thing to me.
Wolfden glad ta see ya hope things are going well with you.beboppinbigun1 Thanks this. -
Yeah.. I was interested in trucking because I'm a 3 generation trucker.. But central has def. Showed me their true colors.. If you let them.. Their like cancer.. They chew and eat at everything until your so broke down.. You couldn't afford a penny sucker.
As long as you keep an eye on your money and figure out how to live out here.. Its much better than a repetitious factory job where you could be laid of tomorrow.. Food services and delivery will always be here..
Centrals good to start with.. And even better when your waving good-bye after your year.. I have to admit.. When I get good miles.. My paychecks are pretty decent.. But its those long streches in between when miles suck.. That ultimately make or break ya..The Challenger, jasper_truck86 and jess-juju Thank this. -
jj just accidently refused a person on his facebook if you just tried to join please send another request sorry for the confusion

Well W2's don't lie, I made slightly more than $21,000 last year and I ran my ### off. Do the math, for that I could work at wendy's and be home with my wife. I stuck it out over a year (20 months) and I am ready to tell them where to stick this truck. Don't get me wrong, I like the work, I HATE THE LIFESTYLE, and for all the ######## you have to put up wit out on the road, it isn't worth it for me.
I am on a dedicated, make .37cpm and don't refuse a load. The miles are consistant, beats 48 state but not by much.jtrnr1951 and jasper_truck86 Thank this.
