Guys, please read my previous post. I've done what you guys are suggesting and I did add the 250 mcm cable to both the positive and the ground.
She is cranking over probably better than new.
But she is a million mile truck and doesn't like to start while cold. Found the block heater cord on the floorboard of the passenger seat but just need to find out where they installed it. I hate (and refuse) to use ether on a diesel so I need to find the block heater and plug it in.
There is no longer anything glowing red. lol
New to me... Nightmare?

It's not junk if it's functional and you find a use for it, now is it???? Hmmmmm
Hahaha -
Just for the fun side of information....
Where I live, the nearest auto parts or hardware store is 55 miles away, one way.
The nearest Walmart or hospital is 120 miles away.
And the nearest place to get parts for this truck is 150 miles away.
So, some call them junk piles. We call them "trip savers".
haha -
Y bother asking or posting on a forum if your just going to mouth off to ppl trying to help you ?
-
You say "junk" like it's a bad thing. Around here it's just a short word for "Stuff I might need sometime in the future."dajain Thanks this.

Most electrical issues are a bad ground many top shops recommend adding a ground to the engine block
dajain Thanks this. -
I haven't mouthed off one bit, I just speak the truth straight and how it really is. At no point have I become mad or frustrated with this conversation but I'm just trying to keep it on point.
If you look back at my OP, I say what I'm going to do as far as the battery cables are concerned to correct the problem the truck had and then a ask if the ground is normally run thru the frame. But I definitely say I'm going to run another ground in the system. I didn't ask any advice on this as I know what I am doing.
There are some responses that give the simple answer about my one question.... "does the ground normally run thru the frame", but THEN ask if there are any OTHER problems that I should watch for on this truck and haven't received any responses at all on that one.
It's not my fault people "read into" what I say and take offense to it. I have nothing to apologize for. I asked 2 questions and received a lot of unsolicited advise on whether I should/should not do what I already said I was going to do.
I'm not mouthing off at all, just pointing out what is happening.
Have a great day. -
I worked in the mining industry for decades and the regs always stated the heavy equipment had to be thoroughly grounded so they always had a cable from the battery to the starter.
It was common practice at our shop to even add cables for extra grounding.
Thank you for confirming that shops actually do this.
Have a great day -
One mans's junk is another man's treasure.

"Junk" is all relative.
