It takes just a bit of "skill" in order to avoid those "blobs". Greasing the wheel does not require building a rail road track high grease dams. Slight squeeze and spread thin (desirably on the trailer itself, so it would not scrape off of the 5th while hooking up and is cleaner to work with), everything extra does end up on the "frame rails and such..")

This truck and my last one have had no lube top plates with the pads that are built into the 5th wheel. But I would think an aftermarket pad would have a similar lifespan.

Thanks for info. I figured any grease would ruin them

Grease may ruin/soften rubber, but plastic? Even most of acids can not penetrate it. What ruins the plate though is dust and debris sticking to grease on it and scraping it bit by bit.Siinman Thanks this.

Did you get the strawberry scented..
Never mind don't answer ... lol -
they had a booth at mats. they gave two out to drivers. they had a real small piece in a small zip lock bag. they told about the product and gave a bag to smash between your fingers and it look and felt like grease. the two blocks they gave me and 2 to a friend they were not in packages and did not get on you until it was smashed. i gave mine to my friend due to i have a slick plate fifth wheel. if i still used grease i would buy them.

Love my disk….until I broke down and a friend of mine hooked up to my trailer and offloaded it. Destroyed my disk. He did pay for it though. 2 months later and scored a liner….a different friend pulled my trailer to the shop for me. Destroyed that disk as well. Haven’t put another one on but am thinking about it again.
Siinman Thanks this.
