My step-dad was also out of work for several years prior to obtaining his CDL. He was on disability after having his lung removed (1997) and radiation treatment (1999) from cancer. He did have some difficulty, but finally managed to get on with a small local company that ran regional. I don't think he would've had near the trouble he did had it not been for his open container charge he received thanks to a buddy of his riding in the passenger seat with an open beer can a few weeks after getting his CDL.
In short, your friend might have some stumbling blocks, but I'm positive he will find work. Most of the larger carriers just need some sort of reference to back up the fact that he was in fact unemployed during those years you mentioned. -
I know that my co. made a big deal about a 1 mo. gap in my employment 5 yrs B4 hiring on....the gap was a co. I worked for that closed up shop in AZ...had to finally get W2 to 'parent' co.' (w/diff name) to resolve--took months!! Can he provide that info for the 3 yrs?
-
No, he did not file any taxes during the time period...He just had some money saved from a sale of his home and former job...
-
Don't necessarily need financial proof---othr records to document what he was doing. They 'assume' the worst, like 3 yrs rehab or something, jail!
-
All he will need at the most is a reputable person (someone other than immediate family) who can verify the fact that he was unemployed and not, as previously mentioned, in jail or rehab.
-
Just don't use scarecrow---not reputable!!
-
Yeah that's what i thought but, wasn't sure. Thanks for your help
