I am writing about Houg. My son is going to work for them next week. Wonderful company. Driver oriented. If they keep their driver's happy things will be great. They are not a large company. If you talk to the owners (mom and pop operation) you will be very impressed as my son was. They do things different from other companies. They do not advertise for drivers.

Looks like they only have a problem with their HOS.
What do you guys think ? -
Just talked to them. Their owned by Celadon now.

TruckDuo, I was going to reply to your post but didn't have the time yesterday. Yes, Celadon bought them out and their location in Commerce City, CO is now listed on the Celadon website as a 'terminal'. I was really surprised to learn of the buyout a while ago and it is one of those headscratchers---why would a trucking company the size of Celadon buy Houg --- just barely above a bottom feeder-- a company that has gone thru more dedicated customers than anyone in CO?? There haven't been any threads that cover Houg since the buyout but there are better threads on the forum that cover Houg.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Celadon has been buying out companies left and right. Good thing if you ask me.

Celadon never use to hire in CO so I never checked them out and don't know much about the company. In years past I drove by their terminals in TX and IN and Houg's junkyard terminal would fit in their employee parking area! As far as I know Houg never owned any trucks or trailers---all leased--so what would make them a good buyout candidate? If I had Celadon's resources and wanted an operation in CO there would have been many better choices like HVH! I drove for Houg 13 years ago and looking at their HOS problems that TruckDuo mentioned leads me to believe that they haven't changed! There were several states that Houg ran in that if the scale house was open you were guaranteed a logbook check!TruckDuo, The Challenger and 123456 Thank this.

The customers/lanes may have made it a good candidate, along with the price. Celadon sells a lot of the equipment that comes with acquisitions anyway
