I responded to a craigslist ad looking for CDL drivers and encouraging applicants to come in to their office, even giving directions in the ad, I drove over one hour each way to fill out an app, after filling it out I asked the receptionist if I could speak with whomever was in charge of hiring and was told " he was busy" I told her I drove 60 miles when I could have just emailed my resume, I asked her to please ask if I could be interviewed now and that I don't mind waiting if I have to. She reluctantly got off her fat ### and walked around the corner and was back in a flash, stating that he was too busy !! So I left and from where I had my car parked I could see Mr. Important stuffing a donut in his piehole. What a bunch of self-important creeps. I went back in and withdrew my application. I guess my time wasn't worth as much as a donut. I wouldn't work for any company that thought that way. by the way this is in Alaska where gas costs 3.50 a gallon and most of the driving was on snow-covered roads. what a waste of my time

I bet you learned a lesson. Do not go unless you have an appointment! And it's always cheaper to email an application than hand deliver it!
-
And a company that placed an ad in Craigslist you expected what?
-
For Craigslist they would have to prove to me they are not a Scam first. Ads on Craigslist are free, so from the get go they don't want to spend a dime to get applicants.

Roehl is advertising there in Nashville today. -
I appreciate all the replies but up here in Alaska Craigslist is about the only place to find jobs, and Nashville is a bit too far to commute

If you keep up with these unreasonable demands you'll never find a job.

Generally speaking are things pretty slow up there. I haven't been up since August. Friends I talk to say it is dead and rates are in the toilet. Many are coming back down. -
well I have been here for 5 months I have held a CDL-A for almost 30 years I have no accidents or tickets I even have my own authority which is how I worked for the previous ten years, so my problem is no 'verifiable experience' I think companys want to be able to talk to your last dispatcher, and in my case that would have been me. so I don't know what to think or do about it. imagine... 2 million miles and I can't get a job up here. so I guess things are pretty bad. but hey as soon as Obama lets all the Haitians in ........ things will be better
x#1 and Native Dancer Thank this.
