Looking for established authority to buy or run under

What about name changes? Would we be able to change it to our name or will the number always be attached to the old name?

 

I dont know about the name change. That was something else I was looking into.

As for the brokers; they will only see if it is currently active or not and the safety rating and other current stuff.

 

you can easily change the name all you have to do is fill out a reintitlement form i did it went from a corperate name eliminating the corp to my personal name

years ago before deregulation the only way to get authority was to buy it from somebody

 

Yeah I found it on the DOT website. It says you can change the name when you file the transfer application.

I would think that by changing the name of ownership on the authority, wouldn't that also relieve the new owner of any debt associated with the previous owner? My line of thinking is that the authority is only a singular assett of said company and can be sold/transferred on it's own rather than actually selling the company...??? That's just my logical thoughts on the subject, and we all know that logic and legal aren't always parallel.

 

That's my thinking too. I talked to a lady at DOT and she said we would assume everything including all debts. But I still wonder..... If you're not buying the corporation, like you said, wouldn't the debts be attached to the corp not the DOT number. I gotta do some more looking.

 

my proposal is simple, aid me in getting back on the road, running under your authority, a base plate, permits, allowing me to make my $400 dollars payments send money home to the mrs, some for me to thrive on, and i'll pay you back, plus an additional percentage for allowing me in, in doing this i will then be able to save and be able to get my own authority after i repay you, my lease, and keep momma happy, all i need is the chance to ba able to establih myself, and to where i should have been by now, yeah, i know, it sounds like i'm dreaming, but, even before the cdl came to be this was my goal, and everything will go according to the plan i propose, because i'm devoted to completing this, i'm honest, v e r y reliable, and dependable, as a professional driver, as with any, a man has to be good to his word, or he isn't much of anything.

 

I vote for the just apply and get authority for 300 bucks.

Then go find your own customers. Almost all broker freight sucks.

 

well, if I had the 300 bucks I guess I could get my own authority, but, when things go bad, especially with my wifes health, then things get pushed back, we all know how that is, making plans, not realizing that the future can't be planned ahead, maybe to some degree they can, sometimes the unforeseeable future has other plans. My wife has medical issues and that has basically put some things on hold, asking for help, from brothers is all that I can do, at the moment, I will have my own authority, it's just not going happen this very moment in time. I'm sure you understand my plight.
