My father has a CDL A and is able to access his company's truck for me to use during the road test, but I still don't understand the basis for ELDT. If I have to complete it, how long is the ELDT certificate good for?

It was my understanding that it doesn't matter that you have access to a truck. You must take your test at a registered training provider.

Yes, you have to do ELDT, however, it isn't as bad as some will say.

    1) You can do all of the theory online. They will load the certificate to the computers when you are done. Here's is but one of many available courses: Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) - Class A

    2) Search the Training Provider Registry and make some calls. You will have to have someone train you on for the maneuvers and on road, but you can also practice with your dad, so that should save time (and money) with the trainer. For that matter, your dad might be able to register as a Training Provider if he meets the requirements.

    Turtlelegs Thanks this.
