Stepping my Game up!!!! Cat Fever

    Oh ok gents and ladies I am working on a deal to acquire a 1998 379 Pete with a 10 speed I believe that is a 475 Cat on the side of the motor it says 365 max power 490...In this truck the motor was replaced 3 years ago the front end was recently rebuilt along with the rear ends which are 4:10's ...Truck looks pretty good will post some pics soon the only visible thing is the visors is missing along the window interior I will give a 8 few electrical problems lights won't dim ......here's what I need what am I getting myself into..........being that I'm a big cam man..What type of motor is this? ....What can be done to improve it?.......What are the good and bad of this motor!...................All answers are welcome..........I guess you can say I'm a virgin to the Cat......:biggrin_25517:

    I'd find out the serial # and as much of the engines history as possible. CAT engines are really nice to drive but repair prices are more than Cummins. If its decent you'll never go back to an old style Cummins.

    Run away from the cat and find an N-14. It is gonna bleed you dry as far as makin it run an keepin it operational. If your a big cam guy you should find an N-14 you will be much happier

    Im just a kid. The joke didn't go so well. But heard those N14's aren't worth it. You want an N14 go looking for a red top. The 3406e is a beast man!
