I work there and full heartedly disagree with the government bailout. YRC should have been forced to sell off the regionals (which have been perfectly profitable) and then liquidated the rest of their stupid company.

Instead, we are now all under their stupid "system". It's completely ###-backwards. Trailers take longer to get loaded and drivers are leaving the barn stuffed with freight, but not anywhere near enough time to deliver much of anything.

Example, I leave the barn at noon with 6-12 stops. My delivery route is two and a half hours away. I do my first stop at 2:30 and by the time I get to my third stop at 3:00, my workflow starts filling up with pickups. Some of my pickups close as early as 4 PM. So now what?

I need to get at least 2-3 more stops off to even have room for pickups. So now I am getting railed from my customers for showing up as they are trying to close, then some more from management because I brought back too many deliveries or missed too many pickups.

These are all problems we didn't have prior to the merger. It's completely backwards and inverted of how we used to operate. Why anyone thought this was a good idea is beyond me.

Adding a day to the transit time on freight going to those distant areas would fix that.

We had the same problem, although not quite as bad as what you describe, since me and a handful of other drivers with long runs used to always run into the “do I start pickups or finish deliveries” dilemma.

Now that we start at 6:00, we actually have time to get everything done.

Yeah EXACTLY. Bring in people 1-3 hours earlier and send them out with the previous day's freight that came in late. Instead Yellows freight doctrine states that no truck may leave the terminal unless they have 10 bills or more loaded

I would have 8 hills loaded and sit around for two hours waiting on linehaul to show up to get an additional two stops added. So now I leave late with 10 stops and ,5 returns vs leaving early with 8 stops and no returns.

You want to lose customers? Just sent your drivers out late and leave them with no room or time for pickups. That's the YRC way.

Why can my colleagues and I figure this out and stupid mega corporate can not? Just crunch the numbers when we were Reddaway/Holland/New Penn and compare that data to how things are going now that we are just ONE YELLOW.

I am am angry. And I have every right to be angry. Both Reddaway and Holland were awesome companies to work for. I was proud to be part of both of them (dispite some of my issues I've had). People that work for them cared about their job. Now our parent company is forcing us into the same boxed mentality that contributed to their own failures.

She told me in 2008 , we should have bought shares in them when they were down to 16 cents or so.
She figured the govt. would prop them up . . .
