Tens of thousands of step decks passed me over the weekend heading east.

    Many hauling containers.

I booked a load for tomorrow. 199 miles for $1150. And this was from that awful CH Robinson. Leave the house and return in same day. Its a BLOODBATH.

Reefer outfit here with 2 trucks. One truck is booked with a roundtrip from home and back. 1,331 miles and an all in rate of $3.00. Leave Wednesday and back Friday. I'm located in a good outbound market so hopefully I can snag something good for the weekend.

Second truck is heading down to the Mexican border at $3.08 per mile on 908 miles and unloading on Wednesday. Who knows what will come after that but I sure didn't like what I saw today. I guess there's no "Inspection Blitz" premium this year as in the past years.

Volumes still seem to be holding steady but rates have not improved at all. The brokers/shippers are doing everything they can do to hold down rates. Just look at Nogales, over 400 loads today with not many paying over $3.00 per mile.

It's definitely a grind. I can only imagine those who entered the O/O world in the past 6 months can't hold on much longer.

I know I pay a hundred more than most in Chicagoland. The parking fee for many is $300. I pay $400. It's close to my house.
A cheaper spot was very close to my house. But when I was with Progressive my first year, they would raise my premium by $2,000 because of the zip code. Great West doesn't care where I park.

Rideandrepair, TallJoe and dwells40 Thank this.

I don’t think they’d enjoy the hours of securement in the heat or cold or rain very long.

And when most of them bite the dust, rates will slowly go back up.
