Glad your home Widow and that the surgery went well.
Went thru these pages that I've missed pretty fast so missed some names. Dang, can't believe that there were 5 pages today.
Someone asked about other training companies. Thers's alot of them out there that come in 2 categories. 1 does it all. Will take you in without a CDL and start from scratch. Central and Stevens comes to mind. Schneider used to but don't know if they've opened their school back up.
Now if you get your own CDL from a school, other companies open up. Marten, Transam, Schneider, WSE, and thats just to name a few.
All companies will have their pluses and minuses. You'll just have to do the legwork and research and ask LOTS of questions.
Hey there 1Bad, heard from Central and got your wrist slapped yet?

    See.
Now you are seeing where my rants have come from over the years. You try and try to keep it in, then one day it all boils out into a large rant post.
Most will ignore it, but some will read.
I noticed some walmart frustration built in there.

Haveing a decent morning felt so good sleeping in my own bed last night. William slept in the bed with the Abby and Hope slept on the sofa so I could have the bed to myself. Just gotta figure out how to get up and down out of a flat bed once 1bad leaves in a little while here. I have the best husband in the world. Everytime I needed to get more meds or use the restroom he jumped up to help me down stairs to get what I needed and put me back to bed. I am so gonna be sad to see him leave. He has truely been my rock these last few days. Think I'm gonna just hang out in front of the tv and do my puzzle books today and listen to the rain! I will try to check back in later this afternoon or tonight. Hope everyone has a good day! Baby if you read this later I miss you terribly already!

Working for Central is kinda like buying a new car. It's worth before you buy is very expensive! BUT the SECOND you drive it off the lot it depreciates to half it's value or even less. Central makes all these promises (miles) and makes you think they just can't live without you. BUT once you sign that contract and you belong to them. You're not worth a dime anymore! :biggrin_25513: How many believe the ooze that comes out of a car salesman's mouth? Sure they will give you a free coke, a balloon, and maybe even a hotdog. But once you sign those papers, more times than not you walk out of that place deceived and a sucker! And they laugh all the way to the bank!

I read more than I post. But I see everyday someone that has read this thread and STILL wants to go to Central. I don't really understand but it's very entertaining. Times are hard but it's NOT WORTH the crap that Central puts you thru and surely not the pay! I have never in my life encountered so many people in one place that just doesn't have any common sense, in the ranks of Central....business sense is pretty laughable. The only thing that I can say they are TRULY good at is ripping people off. They will do everything they can to manipulate your check, your miles, your MIND! This isn't a rant but real life. The drivers that keep pushing on have a bond. Rhino meets his fellow guys out there and they talk and relate. He's not met one yet that just LOVES Central. What part of there is TOO many drivers (students) at Central that keep coming in that makes it MORE impossible to make a living. That is Central's only goal, the students pay. Then you drive off and depreciate. Same old story, I've heard it again and again. It is TRUE folks. I keep hearing Central is a good starter company. BUT I can't even say that. How many drivers make it thru that year to say they started?

I have no idea how many make it through the first year!!

At a guess I would say maybe 20% thats going on JJ and Pauls students.

No matter what any of us say the new guys will flock to Central and be just as unhappy as everyone else is.

Its not the new guys fault Central keeps hiring and they keep applying, if the company wasn't anything but a CDL MILL then they would be hiring experienced drivers.

Mostly the economy. Used 2b that you could get a year in then move on to a better company. With the econmoy tho AND the insurance requrements, that has changed. 2 things need to happen to make our lives better. Economy needs to improve and the government needs to turn the tap off of that federal teat. Policies would change drastically then.
BTW, don't work for Central myself and am glad of it. Their idling policy and refusal to get APU's is very shortsighted IMO. Just my 2 cents worth.

When you leave you want to hope to god you don't have anything CENTRAL can put on your DAC report because they will trash you, and make it hard to get another job!

People stay to pay of the school, in case you haven't noticed there aren't many decent trucking jobs unless you have experience, more then one year at the very least 2 yrs.

JJ stayed for 2 yrs his dream was to buy his truck outright and run totally independent, Central made sure he couldn't do that, most weeks he was flat being outta the Negative.

Then there is how do you know the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, the truly good companies don't advertise jobs, they take people on recommendations.

Man.. A lot of ya'll that wanna know why we stay.. Its called obligation and dedication.. When I start something.. I finish it.. Just like a lot of my fellow "longtimers" here.. Were not quiters.. I don't wanna go home to my family and tell them I quit because of some stupid stuff...

So please.. Come to central.. Live like we do.. Put up with the bs we do.. Everyday.. Then come back here and tell me..us.. Maybe we were right.. You wish your job as a plumber.. Or even burger cook..was still readily available to you..

Guys.. The truth is.. Central is a place to come..stay clean.. For a min of 1 year.. Then go in search for greener pastures.. If you have a family.. Please.. Unless your significant other makes 12 or 15 an hour and works 40+ hours.. Reconsider central.. I hate to hear of anyone who looses a house because of their empty lies and broken promises.. To you..central just see's another poor soul in which for them equals.. You guessed it... Cash..

The reason why I stay is.. Because I love otr and its in my blood.. Plus me and my ole lady live out here.. So 100 bucks a week gets us by.. But trust me.. Its hard sometimes to justify the blood, sweat and tears into a -122.53 paycheck.. Because they charged you for stuff you didn't know existed...

That's true Jess. Most people come to Central and don't have a clue (haven't read this thread for one) that what they advertise is just hot air. So I don't blame the new people. They come believing all they've been told. :biggrin_25521:
