That’s putting the cart before the horse. You need good mental and physical health first. I got a chemical engineering degree on full scholarship (also did grad school on scholarship), was the second fastest warehouse picker in my old Walmart DC, and am a completely accident free tanker yanker. I wasn’t talented at any of those things. It’s about creating a healthy environment. Putting family first for most people creates a very unstable and failure prone environment.

I get that, and agree. Years of therapy, getting good at allowing time for personal self care, freedom to pursue any path is whats kept my family and marriage good. Ive gotten to the point of family first now because I’ve spent my time working on myself and am able to be personally and mutually fulfilled by say a 3:1 ratio of family time to personal time.

If you can net 90K in 3 months trading stocks, that's what I'd be doing. If you can guarantee those returns I'll let you invest for me.

After 20 years as a bus driver and 3 1/2 years as an OTR truck driver, I generally like my job, and I’m making a decent living. I’m really lucky, though, I chanced into working for a company that treats me with respect and consideration, and gets me home for two days every weekend.

I used to make half my living as a musician in a beach town bar band, though (had a very understanding employer who scheduled me for bus charters around my band schedule), and I miss that profoundly. And being home for weekends isn’t the same as being home every night, and I’d change that if I could without taking a financial hit.

can’t guarantee that, but yes that’s a pretty average net quarterly-ish for a year over year TRADER not investor. I’m out of the truck this year to go full time trading

After 11 years, still enjoying it.

The only nonsense I deal with is everyday people going about their every day lives trying to deal with the every day nonsense in their own jobs.

I can’t say it’s as exciting as it once was, a lot of the excitement was because of the unknown. I still enjoy the challenge, and thrive on the uncertainty, still some unknowns to be learned. Something about overcoming or beating the odds gives me great satisfaction. It’s what I make of it. Win, Lose, or Draw. It’s a result of my choices. I like that. I have some good memories that most Jobs don’t offer. Everyone’s in their own little world, one way or another. I like mine.

Always enjoyed it. Started in 1977.
20 years ago I switched from OTR refer to hazmat tankers. Best move I ever made.
