Scania European cabover truck making a tour of U.S.

    VW has been trying to get my Diesels in my 2 Passat’s to update emissions. They can go you know what where the sun doesn’t shine along with the EPA. Your right, EPA got beat and then they threw a tantrum.

    Never get it done... Having an unmolested ECU will be worth a premium on the used market to those who understand if/when you decide to sell.

    Anyone seen them hauling actual cargo ?

    no one will buy Cabovers except for municipal trash pickup , fire trucks , landscaping box trucks etc .
    Odd though , because a lot of schools buses and every nice bus and motorhome and fancy motor coach is a cabover and the drivers don’t seem to complain and say they won’t drive a bus unless it has a hood.

    Without sounding to hateful, all those Euro trucks are the stupidest looking things on any road anywhere. Absolutely hideous, but as far as new cabovers are concerned atleast the K200 cabover Kenworth the Aussies have down there actually resemble what a normal north American updated cabover truck should look like. I'd definitely steer and gear one of those KW cabover.

    80-some posts about how this will never work because it’s different than what we normally see here. Change is coming, whether we like it or not. You can adapt and change or get left behind. They’re leaps and bounds ahead of us over there as far as tractor/trailer integration and personally I’d like to see that trickle down to our market. They’ve been dealing with high fuel prices for years, also, so personally I’d be willing to look at what they’ve been doing to work with that for all these years.

    Look at Volvo. The D13 was hated by many when they were trying to make it work with traditional components available here. They brought an engine from Europe and thought they could just toss it in a truck. Now they’ve pretty well got it figured out with the downspeeding here in our market. But it took getting some forward thinking individuals to try out what they wanted them to try. Now you can walk in and tell them you want an I-torque truck and it’s coming with a 455/1850 engine with turbo compounding and 2.16 rears.

    It takes time to learn and figure things out. It’s amazing to me how many don’t even have an open mind to something different.

    Are you sure that wasn't nikola? They have cabovers that look like scania. They roll around in tandem like that all over AZ. but they are electric

    It is the older generation in this industry they think every change is bad. Because it ain't the good ol days. God forbid you should try to do something different and advance the industry forward!. I would love to see those trucks over here. I would buy one for sure. Big horsepower and torque from the factory which is also efficient with fuel would be a godsend to modern trucking. Who knows what will happen when the government sticks their hand in it though

    All you have to do is drive around PHX for a couple hours and you can see a waymo robot truck, a tusimple robot truck and a couple nikola electric trucks rolling around . If u think change isn't coming soon. It's already here and working everyday.

    On one hand Europe already has strict emission standards so maybe not much would have to change as far as the engine is concerned.

    The reality is expensive fuel is probably here to stay. Short haul, final mile, and delivery trucks will probably shift to electric while fuel efficiency will be the name of the game in long haul.
