$838 compared to the $20k in purchase and repairs on my APU, yeah who's the smart guy now, huh?

I was plagued with a ProHeat. The cabinet makes a pretty handy toolbox once you get the useless junk out of it.

Yeah for sure. I had never even heard of WEN generators until last year but I have had no issues and nothing but good to say about it.

When I bought the sleeper off this Transtar for my Transtar, it had been setup with a Honda genset that had remote start. The Honda start controls were still in the dash of the truck, but the genset had been removed. Was a nice setup with 110 breaker box in the sleeper for the microwave, tv, and outlets…..

You might be better off getting a lower sized unit, like the Predator from Harbor Freight, which can get 13 hours at 50% load, versus the 8.5 of the Wen. Pred is 7250 running, versus the 8300 of the Wen, for about the same price, you may get lower surge voltage, but you get more run time with the Predator and the useable run time voltage isn't that significant of a difference between the two.
As for APU's, I had nothing but good luck with the ComfortPro, with the exception that at really cold temps, (-35 f ) I had to run the engine as well to get it up to temp in ND a few years back. If I had the option, I'd have the Webasto for keeping the cold temps at bay, and keep the Comfort Pro (a real generator, not alternator system) hooked for the engine's warmth and house power load. Otherwise, I like your idea and have seen a few setups with Generators. If you can fit it in your cab, you might be better off with those standalone portable A/C units for around 3-400.00 dollars. I have one here for an unconditioned part of my house, and it work great,...about 12,000 BTU, and when power has gone out, I've used it with my backup generator and a fan to keep the house cool. I just need to get an electrician to install an external plug to run the house in case of power out. It should be able to do the job.

At the moment, if I was purchasing a new unit it would probably be a smaller one than the one I recommended earlier but since I happen to have this one I am going to use it.

He's working on that now. Then I'll go over and and plug it in and see what we can do to male it run right.
My service truck was the same- came out of California with aftermarket DPF, took it off and re-tune and it ran a million percent better.

I like the standalone A/C units like the standup setups. I have one in my garage that works very well. The system I'm putting together right now is all based on equipment that I already have. One thing I may do in the future is a mini split setup. I helped install one two years ago and I was super impressed with it's efficiency during the heat of summer with the high humidity in Houston.

I'm thinking about buying a mini-split unit to test out in my shop.
