i did yard work myself, and LOVED IT.
regular hours (sometimes OT), great health/family benefits, not traffic, no construction, and YOU get to be DA BOSS of the yard, and TELL truckers where to park, and what to do..!!!!
and if they don't listen..??
YOU get to put them at the end of the line.....SWEET TIMES.
the only reason i stopped doing yard work was the company was moving out of state, and i wasn't going to go with them.
but usually 3 shifts are available too, depending on the warehouse, or DC Center.
and i had a CDL, for me at that job, it was required, as i had to go to another warehouse a few blocks away, and for that, i had a day cab, not the yard horse.
Is yard hostling a good job for someone that can't find a driving job?

Have you checked with @Chinatown for California recommendations yet?
He can sometimes steer a guy towards a better job.
As far as a hostlers job it depends on the operation. I worked a 200 door freight house. All I did was make and break sets and pull and set trailers, pups and 53's. A distribution center or manufacturer may be easier but not at 16 per hour sheesh...
The Dhaliwal outfit sounds like a real piece of work and judging by the # of em on the DOT site based in CA I'm sure they are just a step ahead of being shut down.
You may want to pen a letter to the DOT.

You are undependable.
You can't be trusted to finish a task you agreed to do.
If things get hard you bail on your obligations.
You are not just a thief you're a petty thief.
You're spiteful if things don't go your way.
You are a liar.
That is what that letter says about you.
You must fight it any way you can regardless if you win any money or not.
Remember the corrections facility is going to do a background check on you and why in the world would they hire anyone with the character defects that letter says you have.
I truly hope you can get this worked out.
Thanks for naming Dhaliwal ,Pigeon and Coldliner. Any driver should consider carefully if they believe what happened and if they do believe it they should seek employment elsewhere.Another Canadian driver and Dennixx Thank this. -
Some people like yard hostling. Some facilities keep you busier than others. I've known a couple of drivers that went to that and stayed; guess they were tired of the road.
