Actually they are small satellite dishes that we use for mind control against 4 wheelers."don't drive next to me" " Use your directionals" "Give me a show".
You can avoid the mind control by wearing a tin foil hat.
Sorry,couldn't resist.

After calling them "dip dots" for years (don't ask me why...I don't even know!), I finally asked the shop last year what they're called.
Logistics Ports.
Also known as PITA's when you have to drag out the duct tape to repair a hole in one, two, or seven of 'em because some joker just got too close to ya! -
I like the blowup bags myself, but I haul a covered wagon or a horse van.

Now you gotta hunt him down and shoot him!!!!! -

they were on most of the light weight Wabash 53 foot trailers that used only a 1/4" sheet aluminum side walls. they are used to cover 2 holes that are for tehlogistics straps to secure loads in those trailers. they are an older trailer, because now the Wabash trailers are using a slotted strip between each panel and use a new style of logistic strap.

1/4" of aluminum? Wow, all that money for an inch and a half or space. Heavy, too.
But why a four inch disc? Seems to me a rivet would have been more cost effective if your using a wall that is solid. They were trying to hide these mounts? -
Mainframe, next time I have access to one of these I'll get you a picture of the INSIDE of it.
Those discs have a little bar inside them, that you can hook a strap onto. That bar is flush with the inside of the wall. That disc gives you the needed space behind the bar to hook onto it. Otherwise, you'd have a protrusion on the inside of the trailer, which would damage some types of cargo and limit the space inside the trailer.
Here at Werner, the trailers that dont have those discs have E-trac...and thicker walls. the E-trac is flush inside the wall on both sides, and its just rows of slots, and it uses special straps that lock onto those slots. This is a much better system mostly because with those dots, you have one at the top and one at the bottom in each group. With e-trac you have about 20 slots in each up and down row.
When I take an empty trailer, if i have a choice, that's one of the things i look at in making my determination...since we have a wide variety of trailers, I look for: ABS, damage (of course), E-Trac versus "ugly" trailers, air ride, and year (some loads need trailers less than 10 years old) -
I haul general freight most of the time, but since I work for a company that is a moving and storage, you guessed it, we also do household, cars ect. If it will go in my 53' I'll haul it. we use straps, e-trac,load locks, 2x4's plywood whatever it takes to get the load there in the same condition it left in. Fun and games guy's and gal's!!!!!
