I try to get at least 3 hours of driving done before stopping so my 30s covered and I have the full 8 after.

Walk through a Truck junk yard. Look inside the wrecks. See how most were running ragged. Tells a lot. Hold your breath if you have to go inside to pull a part off. Yuk!!

You know full well that his lifestyle isn't sustainable. That's what you need to worry about out here. Every driver I have ever talked to always compares their best paycheck to my average check, and says they earned slightly more. Yeah, sleeping in the truck, working 78 hours, never being home, working 3 days the next week because you are exhausted... I make what I make week in and week out, rain or shine so long as I'm healthy. And I don't work myself to death, so I am usually healthy.

I don't shower out here half as often as I used to. After a bad experiance in texas shower. I do have between. 10 and 15 gallons of water to wash in the truck in between showers. Like the other driver said I chase money so unless I'm really bored I can sit and wait a few hours to a day before I have to get moving.
Usually I plan extra clothes. So if I plan to be out 20 days I will bring 25 days worth of clothes. I bought work pants "dickies" 14 pair so it may look like I don't change. I dunno?.
I have a extremely high metabolism. So I eat every couple hours or I get a little sick on the belly.
As far as a routine is concerned for me it will only last a week to ten days. This is trucking and nothing easy last for ever.

Wish I could sleep 8 or 10 hours just to feel what that's like. 5 hours a night is about the best I can do, then I'm wide awake. Sleeping medicine gives me the 5 hours sleep. Been that way since I was 19 yrs. old.

You have to be steady rollin. Make it as healthy and as comfortable as you can. Enjoy it don't turn it into a prison sentence. You don't have to chase the money just be constant and stable and the money will follow you.

At least once a day have a sit down meal out of the truck. Don’t make a habit of using the steering wheel as a dinner table. Or the sleeper as your dining room.

I usually get up at hour 9 of my 10hr break and shower, eat breakfast, check emails. etc...as soon as I hit my 10 I pre trip, get fuel or start rolling if I don't need fuel. When I take my 30 I also coordinate that with fueling (if needed), lunch, again shower if I didn't get one when I got up. I then roll until my clock is out of drive time then I fuel if it makes sense, park, post trip, go for walk, make dinner, plan out the next shift, shower if I couldn't get one earlier, check calls/emails and go to bed.

I am one of the weird ones that can sleep anytime of the day and really enjoy running hard as possible.

This is so important. I’m in the midst of a divorce, and with housing prices being so ridiculous, I’m basically living in my truck right now because it’d be nuts for me to buy something. I just spent seven weeks straight in it, but it was in preparation for an extended stay with my mom, who isn’t doing well. I’m looking at four weeks at her home, so my situation is a little different than the norm.
