Drivers burned inside concrete mixer trucks hazard

    Do mixer drivers wear shorts? I don't think I've ever seen that.

    Yes all the drivers that have been burned were wearing what they always have worn. Who said Shorts?? Although I do see other workers wearing shorts in those trucks. If that is a potential danger then maybe that should be spread across the drivers as well. Perhaps you have a truck manual for OshKosh and can provide that in these forums as what to wear or not wear in the truck. That would certainly be a help and good to know. I know some workers that wear shorts everyday even in Canada.

    I think it is best you talk to a lawyer. They would know the best course of action moving forward. There is not many mixer drivers on this forum and lawyer would be able to get that information back into the hands where it belongs if you were able to get a lawsuit going against oskkosh

    It’s not about Lawyers it is about Drivers Safety. I reached out as well just now to ELCOSH to see about the PPE that was just posted. All the feedback is important to save the drivers from this hazard. There are numerous forums that are helping to spread this danger. The safety of all drivers is monument. So all we can do to help them we will. Thank you

    Well there is not many drivers here on this forum that even drive that equipment... Im not sure of even 1 mixer driver on this forum that is active... I can appreciate and respct what you are doing, but if you really want something to actually get done about this problem you need to get lawyers involved or the problem is going to continue to happen

    Curious if there is a shutoff valve on the feedline. It was common, years ago when almost nobody had A/C, that trucks had a gate valve to stop the water flow thru the cab heater in the summer time to help the 2 - 50 air flow work.

    Exactly right. He's trying to do the right thing and we appreciate that. This forum won't be his best venue. I'd hope that mixer companies running that kind of equipment would be aware of the situation. You can bet the lawyers are already looking at this

    Yes there are two valves 1 is for a feed and 1 for a return. However, they are located outside of the truck. He’s hoses are inside cab of truck exposed bursting randomly scalding, melting and burning drivers. I hope whomever has knowledge of trucker forums you will all be kind enough to pass along all the knowledge you can. Also the best boots so far out there were those Timberland steel toe boots that saved one drivers feet. I still am still trying to get style. Just more information to keep all truckers safe.

    So the real problem is the maintenance, or lack thereof.

    Maintenance is responsible to replace the hoses, as needed.

    They should be responsible to open/close the heater flow valves, as needed.

    Truck manufacturers changed over to silicone heater hoses in the 70's making heater and radiator hoses a long term item [at a cost] and drastically extended the life-cycle of said hoses.

    A company with a well-run maintenance program should still require inspection of these items.

    The manufacturer of the power unit faces limitations to accessorial location and builds to the specifications McNiellus demands.

    A google search does not show any shysters seeking harmed individuals to file a civil action against Oshkosh.

    Op's first post was a vital sourch of a potential serious situation before degrading into potential miss-direction when the root cause should be the operator of the equipment being focused on Oshkosh.
