Although if that's not possible, then you just tarp the front like normal. Then when done u take a couple bungees and pull down from the middle part until the top is nice and tight... no need for a strap anywhere on a tarp if you take the time and do it right.
What if it Snows?

We release all the brakes except for one (usually a loaded one), hook the tow rope and take slick out with the loader. Brake man releases the brakes, then the loader man VERY slowly pulls. About 5 feet before the cars get to where we want them the brake man flags the loder man to stop, then he starts cranking the brakes tight.

Keri and the Army guy are home. He is warming up the grill and making hamburger steaks while Keri is getting some things ready in the kitchen. She is nuking some potatoes. What I heard was they were looking for some seafood today but what they saw did not look good. Maybe next weekend.

I don't need 'em, don't even know how to use 'em, I just think they look cool.
And, being a city boy, I always thought "riding fences" would be a cool job.
I guess, like any other job, the lustre fades after 12 continuous hours of it.spindrift, stuckinthemud, tramm01 and 14 others Thank this. -
PS: We did not have bungees in the 50's. Them hangy down things were 1/4 grass rope to lash tarp down. Also, no need for us to use the middle strap as D.Tibbitt questioned, as we used a 1 piece tarp. 34' long and 8 ft drops. I was young then and could manage that kind of work.tramm01, austinmike, Dale thompson and 7 others Thank this. -
Well, still down here at Smiley's in Raphine VA.
First day in the last 15 that I haven't had to set an alarm. So I didn't.
I woke up at one o'clock pm.
Been talking on the phone, watching movies, eating leftover barbecue from last night, just generally goofing off.
I'm on vacay next week. Appointment for drug screen/DOT physical on Tuesday.
Looks like I got that local job.
Of course, when I went to the interview the local TM told me, "We have three guys who run the road on their 5 days."
I couldn't help but notice, when we went out to the truck for the road test, that the only two other trucks in the parking lot were sleepers......
Still, the pay is alleged to be better. A LOT better.
This remains to be seen.
Well, might as well get dressed and walk my lazy butt over to the truckstop, and take a dump. Maybe get more barbecue to take back to the truck for later. I'm leaning towards taking a nap, and going home under cover of darkness.Last edited: Jun 25, 2022
