I use the KeepTruckin ELD and I think they don’t quite understand the SB split. In the past I’ve done SB splits for days and days without taking a full consecutive 10 hour break (8/2/8/2/8/2 on and on). After the new rules went into affect the app won’t let me do that. I emailed and they told me you can only do one 7-8 hour part plus one 2-3 hour part then you have to start over. I noticed this when I did 2 hrs off followed by 8 hrs SB. That worked fine but the next day I did another 2 hrs off and it paused the 14 but no hours came back. I know this isn’t right. I didn’t see it specified in the fmcsa handbook but I know it’s legal. Any thoughts?

Does KT have the little check box where you tell it you intend to pair the SB segment?

I use KP, and I am having issues figuring out the 8/2 split.

I put it in sleeper for 8 hours then it says I only have 03:39 drive time and 04:51 until break.

So does that mean I put it in sleeper for 8 hours to only get 339 to drive and stop for 3 hours to get more time?

Like I have to stop before 339 to take the 2 hour break?

    I'm totally confused. Please help.

The violation is removed provided the requirements of the split break are met.

It should give an alternate clock when selecting split sleeper, but at 14 hours, it will still show a violation and a red portion of the grid, which disappears when the split break is met.

In your example, after you drive that 3:39, you take a 2 hr break. Then you would be able to drive for 7:21. 3:39 + 7:21=11. The time before and after a break can total 11 driving and14 on the clock
