That's because the company changed!! Miles became fewer, friends were fired for flimsy reasons and Centrals rules became a joke.

I dunno.. I run 2200 miles and I make 550.. But I ran 3002 miles last week and made 520.. That's crazy.. I figured up their math on my quakchimp and it works out in their favor.. But the math I do.. Tells a diffrent story.. And my payroll clerk.. Tells me.. "I am a pay roll clerk.. Your a driver.. Do you think anyone cares your math is diffrent than mine?"....

Def a bad day for me.. For this reason and some others I won't tell.. Mainly cause I don't wanna put anymore negative here than what already is.. But I almost quit..

But then I caught my temper anf though.. Not a good way to start off my marriage.. By getting sued.. But I would like a nice burger job in six months, if anyones interested in takin the seat in my kw....

Ya.. but I'm a company driver.. Its just sad.. I was brought up to work hard.. And central is showing me.. Half way it and you'll make better money.. I just wish I would have never signed my life away.. I should have researched but.. I was just like everyone else here..

I honestly hope if anyone does come here after reading all this.. That they have a lot of patience and have a strong heart.. Because all the bull you'll put up with.. Could lead to high or higher bp.. Or worse.. I shoulda went with tmc... Sorry about the last post.. I was just blowin some steam off from the day.

The nurse just called to check on me. Told her my new feeling like my back is on fire and was told to go to bed and stay there till I go into the office tomorrow. Now exactly how is that suppose to happen when there is laundry to be done and kids to be looked after. Doctors just don't get the big picture. Think I will lay down for a little while tho while this load drys and until Mom picks the girls up this afternoon. Thank god for mommy's mine has been god sent this week I would of never made it without her!!!!!!!!!! Love ya mama!

Miss you baby hope I get to see you tomorrow atleast long enough for a hug and kiss I could really use your arms around me for a few minutes right now!

I drove local for about 8 years or so.
Anything from Dump, mixer, dry bulk tank, lowboy, flatbed etc.. lol
It is not bad, you will be worked hard, get allot of over time, and the hourly pay (at least where I have worked) is not that great.
But you are home every day, and many of these company's really take care of their employees.
In SoCal it is not even seasonal work for the most part, though construction is way down.

You may however notice that some company's will look at your OTR experience with a grain of salt.
I have trained off the road OTR drivers many times over the years, and some of them have a hard time transitioning to straight trucks (if you go that route). You will spend months looking for your trailer as you try and back up. Also if you try and shift like you do on a road tractor you may have issues.
Old macks for example. If you do not run those RPMs up every shift, you will bog out big time. Also some have different patterns. Like the old California 8 speeds. The shift pattern is a box not up and down.
Also, you have to take trucks to places you would never consider going in a road tractor, and you are much more top heavy when loaded.
End Dumps are about the same most of the time as what you do now. Just need to really be picky where you raise that sucker so it is LVL. And make sure that gate opens when it is supposed too.

I prefer road driving for the most part. Several reasons for that.
    1. Money can be much better.
    2. My wife and I hate each other if we are around each other more than 2 days at a time.
    3. It is not going to and from the same place day after day.

I live in a small area now. Most of the local company's know each other well, and even competing company's work together at times when needed.
Drivers have a tendency to go from one of them to the other, till they find one that fits them best.
