Am I the only one who noticed this? You should have caught this in your PTI because that is what a PTI is for. If you can't look at a brake lining and see a crack, you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a truck. That is one of the reasons a PTI is part of your CDL exam.

Telco if you want to stay trucking you might as well grit your teeth and go. I gauge what is going on by who I see running down I-40 in TN. USA truck wasn't very frequent in the recent past. I have started seeing them more. That probably explains why I saw first help wanted ad since September.
I was actually thinking of reapplying. I had contacted Driversource. They got my name and SSN. I decided to get WIA funds and free school. DS has a deal with USA and PAM that they won't hire you for xxx amount of months after you talk to DS. -
To qualify my statements, I started with USA Truck in Oct 2008 as a Company Driver and got my own truck in Jan 2009 and left them Oct 2009. So I seen both sides,, as a Company driver and as an O/O with USA.
The Mechanics in some of USA terminals leave alot to be desired. West Memphis Terminal had a qualcomm threw at them, cause I threw it at them my self. It was not working and Dispatch had to all me cause I was not getting the messages, and the Qualcomm was saying I was in Tenn yet I had just delivered in Fort Worth TX and just laid down when night Dispatch called asking me to pick up a load in West Memphis for a 7AM delivery 3 hrs away from Memphis. When I called Dispatch saying I would not have a qualcomm till I got to a terminal with a good shop they replied "Oh you must be in West Memphis...."
They had a safety meeting about the CSA 2010 and they asked me to stop in West Memphis to go through the meeting. I refused to stop there cause as I told them, they did not really want me to stop there cause the Shop in West Memphis would be embrased to much, for I would Speak my MIND on how Sorry they really are and what should be done to them if I was in Charged. Also that I felt sorry for the Company drivers for they are the ones who was going to be hurt the worst. For due to the poor shape of the Company Trucks going to hurt them the most. I had to call Dispatch one night to get a Company driver off a load and into the Shop to get his truck fixed, and he was in the shop a week and truck still not fixed right.
Many of the trailers are dropped with problems previous driver to lazy to gt them fixed, and drag them to a customer and not say a word about a problem. For a spell every trailer I picked up needed work before I could run with the load.
During the time of the Original post of this Post I talked to many Trainers, and Solo Drivers who were not getting miles, and end of the following month when I left USA truck for the same reason, no miles. Yet several weeks ago I did talk to a USA Driver who says they are doing good, averaging 3500 miles on average. In Dec I talked to a trainer, same thing, getting the miles.
I left cause I was not getting the miles I needed to make much profits, to many short trips. Yet I made more with USA at 0.90 per mile plus FSC than I did with Great wide getting anywhere from 1.29 to 2.92 per mile. I did pull more freight with USA Truck in 2 weeks than I did with Great Wide in 2 months. -
It all depends on your attitude in the most part with USA Truck. Some of what you read here has happen to some while others would be running hard and strong. When I did start with them I failed the DOT Physical due to my eyes. They helped me by sending me to an Eye Doctor and got a new lenses for my glasses, yet another driver they did not. Not long before I left I was asked about running a driver to Birmingham but was not able cause he was on hold waiting for glasses which they helped also.
I blew out a Drive tire on my truck and I did not have the funds to buy a new tire so I was going to put a used tire, USA came through and paid for a new tire and took it out of my escrow as it came in.
Times I regret leaving them such as the last 2 months since I had not had a pay check in the last 3 months. Since I left I took a job with Great Wide and made more as a Company Driver with USA than I did as an O/O with Great Wide.
