Those initial bid rates are meaningless... well, almost. I don't think anybody wants to click it and take it. They have deep pockets and they always start too low but may end up paying 3 times as much or should as in this case.

The only thing about posting it ugly like that is that they create unnecessary anger reaction. It might as well be an ugly, vicious moron at JB Hunt getting a kick out of it entering these rates. The moron does not know that it reflects badly on their carrier-broker connection. Therefore, I kind of itch to give them a lesson - click it and then play stupid games with them , like never arriving for the pick up while pretending that I am about to...If a 100 o/os would do that they would know that this is not funny to f... around with owner operators who do the hard work.
Maybe, better, they should be called and explained this. I am sure there is someone intelligent to realize that posting this stuff does not look good on them.

On the other hand, I noticed that the lane CA (LA area) - Seattle, WA have been decent on the dry van freight $4000-5000 for the last couple of weeks. A little oasis on Sahara desert.
So maybe, by some remote chance, in some convoluted configuration, going to TX cheap then from there to CA and to WA would make sense. I am not too sure...the last time I was in TX it paid nothing to anywhere in the world and the entire universe for that matter.

Even if you get $4 a mile up there let's not forget filling up at $7 a gallon and endless grades going up to Seattle and then back to Los Angeles is $1 mile.

$2.50 round trip with grades and highest fuel prices. :biggrin_25513:

You don't like the oasis either, I see... you know that is not there to flourish life, it is there to save life by offering a gulp of water. lol
You gotta methodically pick light freight, I guess.

I went out with my old boss last night. He has been out of the main stage game for a few years now doing development work. Clued him in on how the spot market has been the last couple months. He was very surprised at the information I was giving him. Being how well I know the man it kind of shocked me that he did not see this going on at all. It really makes me wonder how many Normal citizens understand how bad it is getting ready to get.

I think we are gonna get caught with our pants down and in a big way. To many clueless people are walking around being brain washed that things are going fine.

I am sure you are one of the few companies trying to do the right thing. Tuff times will make people change to the worse they can be. Complete cut throat to survive as I have been thru this with a another company. I sure hope it does not get to that point before this stops.

Also seems to me that major news networks rarely report gloom and doom in trucking. They are more likely to make extended reports at times when everybody is bringing $5K home every week.
