Except for that first time maybe nobody that's paid a shop bill is surprised by "shop fees". It's kind of like not negotiating your detention time with a broker before you book the load and then acting surprised that the original contract they sent and you signed off on spelled out $25 an hour after some free time.
Another Canadian driver, haycarter and Siinman Thank this. -
Would they waive the fee if I brought them all supplies they might need for the job?
-
No.
That's their extra scam income.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Probably just whizzing your shop supplies away. I've provided all parts before and been shocked. Really the only way to save is DIY. But the fun there only really starts when you realize you don't have a tool you need or some other inconvenience that wastes time to get around. But in the end you know it's right and if it ain't you get to fix it again
Tug Toy, Another Canadian driver, IH9300SBA and 2 others Thank this. -
They could not scam me on shop supplies because the supplies would be provided by me.

OK , the way sales tax is in Michigan labor is not taxed only parts. So going by this you bought $290 worth of parts, why don't you show all of the bill? I have a feeling you are not telling the whole story.

If I pay for a $18 bottle of hub oil while getting a wheel seal put in, why don’t I receive the half full bottle when I leave? So the next guy gets charged $18 for the same bottle.
Another Canadian driver and Chieftains Thank this. -
I spent $35 in shop fees when change out an airline. All they used was a wrench.
When asked what the $35 went towards they couldn't give me an answer.
So don't think you'd get away with that one.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Shops usually don't use bottles , they buy a 55 gal. drum , You get charged for what is used.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
