Really? Red light cameras? Construction zone cameras? Toll violation cameras? All of them send you tickets in the mail

Not sure about toll violations but yeah all other cameras that give you a ticket in the mail, they are not enforceable unless you are served the ticket in person.Flat Earth Trucker and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

Here they can’t ticket off of a weigh in motion. They use those to pick which ones get brought in to be weighed on the platform in the scale.Cat sdp, gentleroger, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this.

But there's no weigh station to go into that I saw on SB I-65 crossing over from Tennessee. Only the camera.
Another Canadian driver and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
That’s weird. A little out of my world, but I looked on trucker path and it shows weigh in motion SB and a DOT pull out NB. Can’t see anything on the sat view in maps though. No idea wtf they do with that. Here I know they need you, a dot or cop, the truck and a scale all at the same place and time to have evidence that will stand up in court.

Its like the one in southern Alabama, they sit in the middle ahead of the scale and pull over those who are overweight based on signal from scale. They bring out the portables to verify.kranky1 and RockinChair Thank this.

I've had PrePass and now have Drivewyze. Either one I follow the signal in the truck, no matter what the scale sign says.
Exception to this is in Arizona and Arkansas you have to go in if placarded no matter what.RockinChair, D.Tibbitt and nikmirbre Thank this. -
The law is opaque on this. The answer depends on who you're talking to and what They had for breakfast.
No. A thousand times NO. IA, IL, WI, IN, OH, N.Y., PA can all issue valid tickets through the mail. If a lawyer tells you to toss it in the bin, fine. Until then assume it carries the full force of law.
They're called "virtual weigh stations". There is one on i43 n bound just past the WI border, on I 41 south just before the Butte des Morts bridge, and one on a goat oath between la Crosse and eau Clair. In theory, they allow dot to sit a mile or so down the road and do selective enforcement. If something looks fishy they'll stop you for a full inspection.JC1971 Thanks this. -
Yes they can stop you. If you are overweight the scale signals any DOT officers that are nearby. If any are available in the area they will pull you over and can cite you for a weight violation. It's luck of the draw if you choose to run over weight through those. I wouldn't risk it. I dont live too far from where you are talking and got my info from a retired DOT officer friend.
gentleroger Thanks this. -
I heard that set up was to see if enough over weight trucks were passing by to build a super coop like on on l 20 W ?
