I have a straight Ford F-650 truck with International 444E engine, that has NO POWER, the truck has hard times climbing hills etc.
Would anyone know a good mechanic in the Chicago area? Thanks

It's still basically a Ford engine. International makes the core basic engine, but it's all Ford electronics and fueling around it. I recommend an actual Ford dealer that does medium duty commercial trucks.

What year? 7.3 Powerjokes are pretty gutless. Ex-Amish people like them, because it reminds them of what it's like to not have power. The one in the F650 is toned down even more. To be honest, Cummins wasn't too hot to trot in those trucks either. Super gutless.

Powerstrokes are OBD2, T444E’s are J1939. Pretty much a T444E is a truck engine, and the Powerstroke is a passenger engine. F650 and some F750’s are Class 6-7 trucks so they got Navistar engines for compatibility with the transmissions offered in the heavier F’s that Powerstroke wasn’t.

Sadly that seems to be the case with many personal vehicle manufacturers that dabble with the medium duty market. One place I worked had a fleet of Topkick/Kodiak 5500's. Nearest GM or Chevy dealer that would touch them was a 6 hour drive away. Got so bad they hired an ex-GM mechanic full time to maintain the fleet.

Other than PCM placement and programming, fuel filter size, water pump and coolant filter, they're identical engines. The Powerstroke is a hopped up T444E. They have identical long blocks. I'm open to correction, but I'm 99.99% certain of this.

The long block is mostly the same. But Light Truck and Class 6-7 are completely different worlds. You can’t swap an engine from an F450 into an F650, won’t work, they’re different. You can drop an engine from an International 4700 into an F650 plug it in and drive on though. Powerstroke/T444E and ISB/Paccar are similar. They’re the same engine, but you’re not pulling a baby Paccar out of a 330 Pete and putting it in a Dodge pick up anymore than you’re putting a T444E out of a school bus in an F250.

To answer just about everybody: This F-650 has always been somewhat underpowered. But it became much WORSE lately like it lost half of its already meager power.
Will I buy another "International" anything? Not in my lifetime
