I wonder if the wire in the hose was acting as a ground, and popped it when the positive cable went to ground through the frame? I had that crazy thing happen to a truck that had been sitting right outside beside my shop untouched for over a week. Smelled burning insulation smell, went outside and that baby was on fire under the hood. Main cable had gone to ground in frame rail and burned all the ground wires up. If I hadn’t happened to been there by chance, it would have burned my truck, shop and prolly house down. Put a battery disconnect on it during repairs but never ever left it sitting close to anything again, just couldn’t trust it.
What if it Snows?

Pretty easy job. Just a lot of small stuff to take apart to make room to get to the bolts and maneuver the intake manifold once it's free. A wobble socket is a must. There is only 1 bolt I could get to without it.
I just need to get like a long flexible soft wire brush to get good cleaning on the egr crossover tube. Kinda hard to clean that thing.
But hopefully cleaning it out helps. Notice my fuel mileage has been lower than normal and sluggish up the mountains. May have even discovered that I had a boost leak. When I wrecked my truck the shop took apart all the charge air cooler piping and I'm almost certain it may have been leaking. Because my trucks really been sluggish since then. But it hard to check for leaks on your own. when I put everything back together today and fired it up, it was leaking on the piping just idling. Revving up I could hear it leaking. But I took it all back apart and got to where it not leaking anymore. Now we got to go find some work and see how ol blue bird goes.4mer trucker, pete781693, Feedman and 12 others Thank this. -
