Weekend ops are just lazy/too short handed to plan accordingly.
A few good weekend guys that got me moving are ones who run during the week but are helping out and have told me most of the crew won't bother to look at available loads in a drivers area to see if they can keep people moving.
Just see you have an issue and send an email for morning/week staff to solve and move on to next call.
Lot of van and reefer preloads that are loaded but have no set apt yet that a driver could pickup and and just get it moving closer to customer rather than sitting burning fuel.

...and now it appears we get trips applied even before we turn in our paperwork??
Our pay works like this. Trips turned in before Friday 2359 get paid the next Thursday. Trips dropped AFTER that deadline get paid the following Thursday.
Completed a trip last Thursday, turned in the paperwork on Saturday morning to keep the miles down and keep my weekly pay "balanced". Got it in this week's paycheck when it should be in next week's check. That turned a 3400 mile paycheck into a 4200 mile paycheck plus the bonus pay. Got a HUGE paycheck today! And NO this is NOT a brag!
All fine and dandy...except it bumped this week's check into the next tax bracket. Meaning I paid more extra tax than I needed to.
And last week, I had a cash advance taken out on a trip that I finished AFTER last weeks pay deadline meaning, I got the advance paid back to the company early, but didn't receive the reimbursement for the truck expenses for an additional week. They held onto the $$$. Not cool!
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PAYROLL! Weird things are afoot!RussianBearTruckeR, Lonesome and dwells40 Thank this. -

Woke up to a confusing preplan and had to msg my dispatcher to confirm.
Was sent a preplan to deadhead from salt lake all the way back to Denver and pu another high priority load out of JBS. Total miles with the deadhead on that load is 1870.
Even surprised my dm when he looked at it, cause he telling me to hold on and wait while he msg planners to also confirm the 500 mile deadhead.
Edit
After an hour of no reply, just accepted it. Must pay a lot for all that deadhead cause load info only says there's just 12k going into the box.Last edited: Jul 21, 2022
