No telling why they used the old motor mounts. New ones must have gotten misplaced? A dab of silicone on the corners at the block seams should be on the pan gasket. Also, the rubber grommets and steel sleeves could be damaged on the oil pan. If so, it won’t tighten up good. Even when everything’s good, those plastic/fiberglass pans leak. The grommets and sleeves can be replaced later if needed. One at a time. I’m sure it will have plenty of minor seeping leaks, no matter how well it was put together. It’s a Detroit, Lol. Little things not worth worrying about.

Don’t freak out on the first oil change if you see this. Lol. We blew the block out with air, even ran a magnet around inside trying to get shavings out from cutting the counterbores. Still had a lot of shavings. Oil filter catches it, doesn’t hurt anything. They suggest changing oil at 5k. I waited till 7k, then again at 13k. I think 3k and again at 12k, then every 15k is better. I’m at 120k now. Been trying to change it at 15k, but more often it’s been 20k. 20k is fine. Original Detroit suggested schedule in ‘98-‘99 was 15k. Low sulfur fuel and better oil maybe? Bearings aren’t a problem on series 60. I went 1.3 mil changing at 20k. It’s always a head gasket, cracked head, or dropped cylinder. Both my 12.7s only lasted 825k mikes before dropping a cylinder, and blowing head gaskets. Coolant condition is much more important to me, for those reasons. Gotta keep it tested and ph balanced right. I’m still shooting for 15k changes. I’m hoping 15k changes will keep the blow by away. So far at 120k, very little noticeable blow by. Blow by is the curse of the series 60. Usually come back strong by the time it gets 300k miles. My thoughts only. Nothing scientific about any of it.
