It is a good idea ! When ever i get unloaded. I usually just hook to the rub rail and hold other hook tight then spin them both all the way open . Throw a dab of gear oil on both threads then close em up and throw em in the rack.. Couple times a year i try to clean them off at the house since if u run offroad in dust , those threads get gunjed up with oil... Spray them off with diesel close and tighten a couple times, diesel gets rid of all that gunk.. Ur spinny thing in the vice would be perfect for doing this at home !

I've always opened snap binders by pushing with an open palm away from me or by giving the handle a smack with a pipe or bar at a distance.

I use a 3’ ish chunk of 2” strap; double it over n put the sling end around the tip of the handle- good yank and its all freed up. Strap takes the force nice and easy. -

Not that I recall/ ain't made a habit of chaining anything in several years, but I have a few of these little clips that are good to keep snap binders closed.
I think I have put pics of them before. If i remember I’ll snap a pic on monday.
Idk that it’s especially worth worrying about; that said, it won’t hurt to secure them with something to prevent the handle from popping open in some unforeseen circumstance.Blue jeans, cke, CAXPT and 2 others Thank this. -

When I open/close my binders, I grab the eyes at each end and spin the handle towards my body. I'm sure I'm not describing it correctly, so I hope you can picture it. I didn't come up with it. I either saw someone doing it, or I saw it on YouTube, but I can't find the video. Makes it so you can fully open/close a binder in just four or five seconds.
