We will have to wait and see. Even is there was someone on the message board in charge of making all the decisions for every company in the industry the week the speed limiter reg was implemented all of the consequences won't be disclosed in advance. Mostly, each company will try to adjust in whatever way they think will have the least financial and schedule impact. Many companies will do almost nothing until they learn how other companies change to adjust to the new policy. Just because we want to know doesn't mean the answers are available, or can be known. Let's say there is an answer for every worry, the prime decision maker spills all the answers, what are you going to do if your company doesn't make any change, or makes changes different from the leaked answers? "Hey you can't do that to me pay/schedule, some guy on the internet told me you were going to make these adjustments, not THESE adjustment.

I think Ontario Canada already has speed limiters. "It's hard to make predictions, especially about the future."

I'm with you, I won't participate in it. Many of us are like that. I drive OTR with long breaks once in a while, like I'm doing now. I'll take a permanent break rather than deal with the carnage.

When the NTSA started pushing the FMCSA for this a few years ago, I knew the day would be coming. Throw in the ATA with their "leveling the playing field" rhetoric and their nearly unlimited lobbying funds, and it is only a matter of time. I know that the FMCSA received many thousands of comments and of those there are going to be a lot of pro limiter comments. There should have been a couple million from truckers, but the average trucker never reads any industry news or goes to websites as this. So whether it will be 60 mph as the safety nazis want, or 65, or maybe, but not likely, 68 mph, they are coming. It will take a year or more to get the final rule published and then maybe another year to take effect. But as soon as the FMCSA first asked for comments, it was already a done deal.

I plan on doing this another 6 to 12 months and when I retire this time, it's gonna stick.

It is used to manage driver fatigue here, if everyone is doing the same speed it is easy to work out when and where the mandatory rest breaks are to be taken

We do have mandatory rest periods here and they are policed

Generally long distance drivers here get paid by the kilometre (mile) and intra-state or local drivers get paid by the hour. Tipper drivers get paid by the load and they are a ####ing menace on the road

We also have Federal legislation here regarding 'Chain of Responsibility', this legislation puts everyone in the cross hairs, from schedulers, to loaders to drivers, to managers.

Chain of Responsibility rules can be seen here Chain of Responsibility | NHVR

It is about driver fatigue, load restraint, load dimensions and load weights and in many cases protects the driver

    My two cents..
If we as drivers, whether o/o, company, union, private etc could get together to fight anything, we could absolutely have any rule overturned in 2 weeks time.

But christ we can't even help another guy out..we'd rather film em and send it to some dope who puts it on the internet so we all can laugh at them.
Let another truck pass or get in front of you..fuggetaboutit

Besides a lot of guy's don't have 2 months of living expenses saved up and that's what you'd need minimum.
Do you have 2+ months salary or mortgage payments, insurance etc. or truck payments saved?

Most don't and the government knows you don't and knows we ain't got the spine or $$ backup to do what would need to be done.

Long before that the government would force you to drive!

So say what you will in the forums or chat rooms or fmcsa comments, it's coming.
Another way for goverment to control most of the transportation commerce that keeps this country operational. Notice what didn't shut down during the 19?

There will be some holdouts for a time but look how they put hos on us.
Now 90% run an eld...same philosophy.
This will be fun to watch going forward but like some I'll be gone before that time and hold on to the memories of when trucking was a better job, career and life imho.
