Ok, I've not been to a truck show before, but since I'm a recent Owner Operator, I figured it might be worth the time to check it out.
Two questions....
Thanks in advance for your replys
- Those that have been to one of these shows, would it be worth my time and trouble to go to this particular show?
- What should a guy expect to see at one of these shows?

I went to M A T S last year for the first time. It was awesome tough part was trying to find a parking spot for the T. & T. spent the whole day Incredible truck show, and more booth's than you could believe. Spent the whole day walking around carrying two bags of hand outs by the end of the day i was ready to drop. I will be there this year for sure. Sign up on line and save some time.

Well I have been to 3 county fairs and a goat roping and I aint never seen anything like MATS !!!!
It is chicken lights ! Shiny trucks and dirty drivers for as far as the eye can see !!!
Wear good walking shoes and NEVER EVER NEVER be anywhere near there come Saturday !
I found the Thursday and Friday morning to be the best for getting information and looking at the items we use in our chosen profession .
Saturday the pen pickers show up and just run all over everyone to get free pens and worthless crap that everyone has on their tables.
If you go do check out the show trucks they are something to see and I don't even like chrome !!!
They have truck parking by the stadium and a shuttle that runs back and forth. It might be a little late to get a room real close but it don't hurt to call and ask.
I think everyone in trucking should go to MATS at least once in their trucking life.
If you enjoy people watching then this is the place for you

I am not trucking yet and I went to MATS last year and am going again this year. I will be there Friday and Saturday. The wife and I went on Saturday last year and I felt "hurried" to see everything (not because of her). You definately need two days to take it all in, if you have the time. A good pair of walking shoes are a must.
There were vendors there supporting pretty much all aspects of the business, not much in the recruiting area.... I was told this was due to the economy.....
The show itself I felt was very well laid out. It was very interesting for me as an outsider looking in.
Let me put it this way.... I was able to take away a tremendous amount of useful feedback and information and I am not even in the industry yet. For you, as a business owner.... I can only imagine that opportunities to network, talk shop with vendors, gather information and formulate ideas would be invaluable.
Oh yeah.... the seminars.....I plan to attend all the CSA 2010 seminars on Friday. Hope they are worth the time.
In a nutshell....if you have the time..... go.

I always talk myself out of going every year, hate going to drool over something that is light years out of my range.

I'm not an O/O but I'll be going this year. It's about a 6 hour drive from me so it better be good, ######. lol
Gears Thanks this. -
Never been to a show either but I have been to the chrome fest at I-80 a whole bunch. Catch a nap in the theatre to keep my fuel idle down. I would like to see a show.

Been several times and highly recommend it. Plan on going again this year. It will take you atleast 2 days and you still may not see everything. Thursday and Friday is the best time to go. Saturday the place is packed and you cant move. Don't miss the show trucks!
Gears Thanks this. -
I've been for the last several years, and last year was the worst due to the economy. That being said, it was still pretty good. Worth the time to go there. I expect this year should pick back up again.
Gears and The Challenger Thank this.
