As I've mentioned previously, we are a H/W team in a straight tuck for a fleet owner. We are also not hazmat.

The truck we are in now gets anywhere from 9 to 12 mpg depending on weight and how many mountains get in the way. The truck is rated at 46k and we have carried anywhere between 135 and 15,000 pounds in the box.
We recently got the Turbo3000D installed and it has helped improve fuel consumption - even when idling.

We do not pay any of the Q/C fees or any of those other things.

The boss doesn't really like us to discuss about what the contracted rate is.
When we get a load offer it includes the rate that the load will pay (anywhere from $1.10 upward) and what the fsc rate is estimated to be (anywhere from .09 cpm up to .36 cpm). To give an example Rate of $1.15 for 950 miles, FSC is .25. The estimated FSC would be $237.5. The truck would get for the load 1092.50. We would get for fuel (after we get loaded) $491.62 which is 45% of what the truck would make. Our paycheck would have (1092.50*.6)-491.62+237.50=$401.38.

The only time we have had problems getting paid was when we did not 1) turn the paper work in on a timely manner, 2) following procedures on the paper work. We normally get paid for a run within 15 days of us sending in the paperwork. We send our paper work in from our truck within 2 or 3 days of the run, Put our Pro and truck number on everything, make sure everything is legible.

    Baack and gopher1 Thank this.

Well of course your not having a problem, you are not the owner of the truck and your experience is based purely on the way that particular owner treats you. Not the way Panther treats you. Switch owners and you may be singing a different tune before long.

Fact of the matter is when a owner has more then 1 truck leased on with Panther, there is always revenue. Under those circumstances for the most part everything will get processed as it should. Well except for loads that are turned in Mon-wed, which will take 16-18 days instead (15 days starts on the day you scan the paperwork). Now, if all the trucks that owner has in the system were to take the same week off you'd see a different story happening.

Your also talking about the difference between being a team and being a solo driver. Solo driver would never get the 950 mile load, in a straight truck they actually get an avg of 250 miles and in a tractor trailer get an avg run of 400 miles.

It does shock me to hear that you sat around for 3.5 days one time. Here i thought they only did that to Solo drivers.

However the majority of owner's do not have more then one truck leased on to Panther and will be more likely to run across the little games that Panther likes to play when it comes time to pay.

Fact of the matter is Fleet owners and team trucks get preferential treatment at panther. Being as you fit into both catagories, your reporting on the best it could possibly get. I'd actually be surprised if you were here complaining.

    Baack Thanks this.

Sith, we have changed owners and good responses things with both.

Your point of being with a fleet owner versus a truck owner is well taken. But, I have a question. We have only been paid for a load only after the fleet owner has been paid for the load. Are you saying that fleet owners get preferential treatment for payment of loads?

I've run across so few solo drivers with panther, I don't have a real good feel as to what their miles are. The few that I've talked to "seemed" to be happy with the miles they are getting - but of course I didn't really get to quiz them too much.

    ??? A straight truck not pulling a trailer ??
There are a lot of good used expedite trucks on the market for very reasonable prices although those in the industry recommend starting out driving for a fleet owner and learn the business before investing in a truck .
I don't know about Panther but I know FedEx Custom Critical gave their contractors list of brokers they could use to get freight when nothing is coming out of where they are located .
Yes , they would get a percentage because you'd be hauling under their authority .

Don't know what 24' trucks are going for.

Yes there are backhauls available, but whether you are the truck owner or not you only get 85% of what the load pays.

So............ you are still with them? And if not.............with the above pay, and obv revenue possiblities why would you ever leave? Why only 8 months?
I drove for Tri State..... a competitor and last January only made $560 after expenses. Not sure but your numbers seem awful high in a niche industry that the bottom fell out of in September of 09? Just wondering.:biggrin_2558:
