    @TacomaCatdaddy --

    When Indian River Transport starts hiring fresh CDL recruits, that would be a really sweet gig possiblilty for you....:thumbup: :headbang:

    On the other hand--if (for whatever reason) you think you would actually prefer reefer duty (and may God have mercy on your soul for that)--take one of Chinatown's suggestions--& avoid reefer duty with Oakley Tranport's "new" reefer division.

    I would not wish that one on my worst enemy. :confused::eek::rolleyes:

    A lot of small and midsize companies will greatly embellish and use the word trickery to make you think you’re gonna get more than what you really end up with. Facebook advertising for trucking is famous for this. Some of the ads are really outrageous. Make $2500 a week as a company driver. Blah blah blah. You have to do your own homework before you start applying to some of these companies.

    I'm one that doesn't want dedicated runs. Prefer irregular route OTR driving. I like going to different places all the time.
    Same routes every day or week make me want to jump off a cliff.

    IMO, the two activities are completely separate. They advertise according to advertising deadlines, and they hire according to their needs. Plenty of times, especially at third party web sites like Indeed.com or others a job will continue to be advertised after they have filled that position. Dishonest companies will advertise for one job and then tell you about, or even assign you the jobs nobody wants (Dollar type stores, regardless of the name of the store). So, sometimes it happens by accident, and sometimes it is dishonesty. An ad or a recruiter's comments are not enough info to take a job. Make the company pass your contact info to a driver doing the job you are applying for and ask him the questions. Don't ask "is the pay good?" Ask, "how much did you make last pay check, or last year." Try to ask questions where the driver doesn't know what you want to hear. Most companies pay for driver referrals. You can ask for that driver to give your info to another driver and talk to him. The main thing is don't be passive and don't believe everything you are told until you can confirm it. It's your job to look out for you.
