I just always find it amusing the amount of people on this site blaming everyone for taking a cheap load or loads...
It's either the foreigners, red necks, guys with or without a truck payment, or the mega carrier. Of course the guys pointing the finger have never ever taken a cheap load. Which is complete BS. Everyone has, I don't care who you are!!!
I certainly have and will do so in the future if it works for me. At the end of the day that's all that matters.
On the flip side, just deadheaded 1980/miles two weeks ago from Riverside, CA to Madison, IL because not even the couple of rock bottom cheap loads available worked for me at that time. Got the truck and trailer fully washed/polished in CA prior to leaving and even stopped over in Vegas for a couple days to blow a couple more thousand$$$$. Did all that with the BIG scary truck payment everyone on here talks about... "OH, He's gotta take a load with that truck payment he has, or the repo man will be calling".... NOT!!!
Over three years with this truck payment and it's been cheaper than the PAID OFF truck I traded in with the constant repairs and down time. 325,000 on the clock now and I've been down once for a DEF level sensor over a holiday weekend... One other shop visit was for a fuel pressure sensor which was literally a couple hours at cummins...
And just for the record over my 15+ years trucking experience, I've had more than one "trucking buddy" that I associated with that had a paid off truck and would take any load available cause he was broke as a joke. Payment free doesn't take away the desperation for some people, believe that. Everyone's financial situation differs.Chieftains, Old_n_gray, Midwest Trucker and 8 others Thank this. -
