I was supposed to meet up with my insurance agent tomorrow but he had to cancel due to a “freaking mess” that he has on his hands.
I asked what’s up and he said people aren’t paying. Said the last 45 days have gotten really bad.
So, chew on that if you’d like.ProfessionalNoticer, Another Canadian driver, 86scotty and 16 others Thank this. -
I'm not a truck owner, or an economist, or anybody that matters, really. But for what it's worth, I see a major economic meltdown about to happen unless something changes.
I haven't bought heating oil for the house since May or June, I can't remember when exactly. 230 gallons cost me $1000. I, luckily can afford it, and I will be ok this winter as well. But I'd bet there's a couple million homes that won't be able to absorb such costs.
Once the winter sets in, people are going to pull back hard on the extras if they have any sense.
As far as work goes, as long as people want electricity, I'll be working. My wife has a good paying job that's loosely related to the medical field During COVID she made a killing. I am also about to close the sale of my rental property, and should net a nice chunk of change from that, which is going into savings. I should be debt free except a small mortgage payment by years end. Once the market crashes and used trucks become cheap, I may take the leap and buy a truck - cash of course. I'll have the luxury of buying one and not having to work it until the economy begins to improve. Between the savings, the available credit I have, I should be able to weather some pretty rough stuff for a while if I need to.
Then again...I may just pack up and move somewhere nice. Maybe the BahamasAnother Canadian driver, bzinger, Brettj3876 and 8 others Thank this. -
I’ve been getting boneless ribeyes at Walmart for $11-$12 lb. for quite a while now. They’re surprisingly some of the most tender ribeyes I’ve found anywhere. My wife puts canola oil, and fresh minced garlic on them at least 15-20 minutes before hitting the grill. I cook them fast till medium rare, on a gas grill set on high. Topped with sautéed onions, and sliced fresh mushrooms. A bit of butter on mine.

I went to pay my 2290, thinking I could pay directly. Nope, said I needed to use an approved 3rd party provider. So I used Expess Tax. I used them last year. I’d used eform2290 a couple times. Last time they didn’t file it, and had no record. Even though I had my stamped copy. Anyway, Express Tax charged me almost $41.00, $13.41 for the form and $27.50 for processing. They got me.

So many scams. Today I got an e-mail receipt from someone who’s a very bad speller. It’s a paypal receipt for a few hundred dollars. Phone numbers and transaction numbers. I don’t even have a paypal account. Don’t know their angle, but definitely some type of scam.

I like to soak ribeyes, or any cut, in orange juice for about 30 minutes before grilling. Doesnt impart any flavor in the meat. It's just that the acid tenderizes it. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper then cook hot n fast on the charcoal to medium rare or however you want it.
