Yes, I also have had less than glowing experiences with Oakley Transport (Lake Wales, FL).

Stay away from Schneider bulk--given your level of experience, you can do SO MUCH BETTER.

Your original post sounds a lot like what I have here--not much in the way of opportunity with truly good companies who treat their drivers with real respect.

Suggestion: if things with Quantix don't pan out--have you maybe thought about hauling fuel?

Snapshot: things between Oakley Transport and me didn't pan out--yet now, I'm hauling fuel (gas, diesel), and home daily. Been doing fuel (as of this writing) with the same company, for just over a year. What should that tell you (about Oakley)?

If things don't pan out with either food-grade, or chemical--you could always look into either hauling fuel--or cryogenics.

The bad news with cryo that I keep hearing is that they can't get/keep drivers. It seems that the cryo companies have simply gotten too anal with safety, and/or they have otherwise just gotten too big for their britches (as we say down here in the deep south).

Fuel, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be that way.

If you decide to check out fuel--given your level of experience--I would suggest that you look ONLY at the private fleets--Love's, Pilot/Flying J, RaceTrac, and maybe Sheetz.

There...the pay is generally better, and the equipment and working conditions are generally better. Home daily. Steady work. Pretty much recession-resistant.

STAY AWAY from Circle K!!!! I deliver to Circle K routinely. Trust me on this one.

The best fuel hauling jobs seem to be paid hourly--with overtime pay starting at 40 hrs in (examples--Pilot/Flying J, and RaceTrac). That way--you are paid for ALL of your time--whether you are moving, or not.

Part of what got me into fuel was from talking to a lady driver who was hauling fuel for Pilot. I met her at a rest area on I-95, in Florida.

I was impressed with what she told me she was making.

Avoid fuel hauling jobs that pay by the load. You have to run like a NASCAR pit crew member to really make any money with them.
