In 30 years I ran about 2 1/2 million miles. A bucketfull of tickets, a few bumps{none my fault}, and a lot of memories, good & bad. Now I just drive my rocking chair, with an occasional trip to town in my pick up truck.
How many Million Milers do we have?

WELL I CAN BRAG!!!!!! 4+ million no crashes, jack knifes. LOTS O TICKETS in the old days when I really didn't care(neither did my insurance company). I quit two years ago to start doing home repair, things didn't go well will be returning this month running around Iowa. I have missed it and will be watching for my old friends and looking for new ones.
Look guys you all know that for the first 5 years we all made the mistake of thinking we knew it all, well we didn't! The new guys need to learn faster and view the job NOT AS JUST A JOB but a PROFESSION! Think about the other guy AND THE 4 Wheelers safety, DRIVE TO YOUR ability. Slow down enjoy the view, AND LAUGH A LOT.
The world is not out to get you. I'm not that old (50) 29 years on the road has taught me I dont know everything but do know enough to stay alive in most situations.BeN DaViS, crazycanuck, 216 Angel and 2 others Thank this. -

I'm new to this site, and I am so happy to find this post! I have been driving 14 years, have just over a million miles, as I worked locally because I am a single mother. I have had several tickets, and only 1 accident-non preventable (got sideswiped). And just a note, it makes me mad as hell when these guys (who I probably taught to drive) jump out of their trucks to site me in because I am a woman!! Not only have I taught people how to drive, but was a yarddog for 2 years! So if you jump out to site me in, make sure you site my husband too, he's only been driving 6 months!

Dont know how i can verify it due to changing jobs, but with over 25 years road and local LTL driving, i can say i'm well over a million miles. only ticket was bobtailing back to the terminal late nite and doing 15mph over local speed limit, never wrecked a commercial vehicle yet! However ive been on workers Comp 4 times for work related injuries. LTL frieght wont unload itself!

Wonderful! Miles are sketchy these days with the cliched "failing economy". Yeah, thanks Barack! Well, I guess a mill and a half, maybe more for me-although it means more coming from me than the prospective employers I may approach. Had 1 year OTR in 1993-11 months OTR in 2008(got laid off from that job Feb. 09). The rest has been regional and local(linehaul & distribution). I've had minor(fender benders) which
wasn't my fault.(LOL-what is this, a record check-I get enough of this from DAC).
Had some tickets-nothing that couldn't be settled in kangaroo court. All in all, I've
had to roll with the punches(and taking some hard ones here lately). It's always been an enjoying and profitable experience. Hope to see many more years of trucking. Happy Motoring!Last edited: Feb 5, 2010

I probably drove a few million miles with twelve different employers during 41 years 9 months. There were high mileage jobs such as Tri-State Motor Transit, and low mileage jobs such as driving a water truck on road construction for Strunk Bros. I drove in 43 states and Ontario. I never received a speeding ticket with a truck and was one of the slower drivers out there. I had a few weight tickets including one while bob-tailing, but hauled too heavy many times.
Matlack's accident review board charged me with an error in judgement in 1983, namely leaving safe haven with defective equipment. When the truck stalled, it was hit by a motorist who received a broken knee cap. No tickets were issued, but that was the worst day of my life.
I put almost a million miles on the IH COE I bought new in 1973. After the tractor was paid for, I chose to operate fewer miles and spend more time at home. I was never one to "run hard and make money."
Trucking caused me one divorce, one double hernia repair, one hemmorrhoid operation, and moderate hearing loss. I made it to retirement without back trouble. If I had it to do over again, I would wear ear plugs every day and invest in the new Bose seat. -
aint gonna reply to it is he ?
