They have inverters in truck stops that have an USB port for power.

The TND can draw just power from the USB port.

But, what I do not know, if the USB port off the inverter will supply the same amount of current as the regular DC power adapter.

I know I have a tester that used the USB port off his truck stereo just fine for power.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Im running a small inverter off the cig lighter, the inverter has a usb port and works fine for keeping the unit powered. The way I have my TND flush mounted to the dash, the original powered cord with the 90deg plug wont work.

Precisely why we send a free inverter with 120 outlet AND a USB outlet with every TND order.

This was asked awhile ago.. but here is the reason.

This is a result of data error. Navteq data does not have the outer
ring roads (including AB-216) as STAA highways. Because of this, the
router wants to take AB-2/170th St (which is coded as STAA). The outer
ring roads are relatively new roads, that Navteq apparently hasn't been
    truck attributed yet.

RM is submitting this as a bug.

    thanks

KY-92 is classified as a "AA" highway. "AA" highways in Kentucky have a
    62,000 lb GVW restriction.

MS-512/CR-512 in Quitman, MS has a 57,650 lb weight restriction (This
information comes from MS-DOT's Legal Truck Weight Limit Map.)

    Thanks,
    Mark

Welp, guess no trucks over 62k are allowed in that Pilot. Darn.

MS should probably change the signs posted.

Battery life is about 30 minutes depending on how high the brightness is set. But, expect about that.

The main factor in this is that the TND was made for trucks with the general consensus that it will be plugged into a power source most of the time.

If your truck does not retain power to the cigarette lighter when your key is off, you can put it into sleep mode by momentarily pressing the on\off button.

    Thanks,
    Mark

PS> make sure you TND is updated, it should show - main screen\preferences\device settings\about - 10.2.1472.1717
