Just curious what you all who have this motor stretch PM's out to. Theres a sticker on my vent window that says that Detroit reccomends oil changes at 50k miles. I was talkin to a Petro mechanic a few nights ago and he said that was a little steep. Although this is a lease truck and I have no intentions of purchasing it when the lease is up, I dont want to be held responsible for failure on these long oil change intervals.
Also, them three fuel filters on the left side of the block; My road service department says they are to be changed every 250k miles. Again, when i was talking to that mechanic, he said that if I was gonna be doin PM's every 50k, he said to change those along with the oil and the main fuel filter on the frame rail.
He took me upstairs to the parts room and actually opened up a box that had all three of those filters in it and went on to explain to me that they were a lot higher micron rating than the other filter, the one with the clear housing which made a lot of sense that not changing them until 250,000 miles go by was not a smart idea.
Again, I'm not keeping this truck longer than the lease is for which is 3 years but I dont want to have a costly mistake to have to pay for down the road.

It is always a good idea to change your filters with every oil change. Though you can get away with not changing them. A new filter will be able to better filter oil than a old one. Besides if you had some dirt in a previous change, that older filter will have more obstruction to you getting the lubrication that your truck needs.

I was more concerned about the three fuel filters on the side of the engine block.

Well, right before we got off hometime, I got the truck serviced and at 40k miles for its first oil change, those three fuel filters I was asking about probly dont have to be changed every PM since they were fairly clean. The big fuel filter on the fraim rail was the one that was pretty clogged so I guess I answered my own question.
