    Hey LOCAL drivers,
Who the heck are you talking to allllllll day long on those headsets? Just curious. I couldn’t imagine having that thing hanging on my head 12-14 hours a day.

I put on my Blue Parrott XT 450 when I get a call and remove it from my head soon as the calls ends.

Well ive been a local driver since 2013.... my last headset broke around 2017 and i never bought a new one. I discovered i like the silence much better. LOL

Seriously though, it's a pet peeve of mine as well.

I generally hang out in online voice chats about any of my varying interests or in a group call with fellow coworkers.

I’m usually on mine bs’ing with coworker, or giving directions, or spreading rumors about company gossip. You start talkin about quarries in the middle of nowhere, what roads to take to get to said quarry, what CB channel they run, where the pile is and the ticket out procedure, PLUS the scuttlebutt is the new driver turned a trailer over and the mechanic is banging the new office girl. That’s an all day conversation buddy. Makes the day go by faster. I’m with @Diesel Dave tho, once the convo is over that sucker gets flung on to the seat. I’m not going to be on the receiving end on one of the glares from a retail employee when she can’t tell if I’m talking to her, or the person I got on the phone.

I just recently picked up a Shokz bone conducting headset, and I wear it much more than the traditional headsets, it's much less intrusive. It's also nice to listen to music while maintaining aural contact with the outside world while I'm loading/unloading my cars, and I don't have to worry about it falling off/out.
But I'm unlikely to be caught wearing it in Walmart so everyone knows how important I am!

There's two old timers that run dump trucks out of a local quarry. They're always running together. I'm talking all day, every day. They're yakking on the CB the entire time. No topic in particular, just talking like two old ladies. Amazes me they don't run out of things to talk about

As a local driver, I spend a lot of time on the phone with co workers. As @motocross25 said, gotta keep up on the company gossip and such. Makes the day go a bit quicker. After the rest of the world wakes up I try to catch up on whatever personal calls I need to make, after that I'll just listen to the radio.

But you'll never, and I do mean never, see me outside the truck wearing any kind of Bluetooth headset. I find it really obnoxious when I'm in line at a convenience store and someone is there blabbering away on one for the rest of the line to hear.

Why can't people socialize like they do in the real world. Just cause you don't have people to talk don't mean everyone is like you.
If it's not your cup of tea fine. But to have it disturb you is no good for ya.

The nagging wife at home. I don’t have a wife anymore, i’m just saying, that’s probably who most of y’all are talking to. And probably half of that conversation as you reassuring her that “ honey, I promise I don’t have a girlfriend in every town across America“. …I’ve been out here almost 5 years. No headset, zero phone calls, and no CB. I quickly learned five years ago during training while the CB is definitely handy for a lot of situations, I probably avoided a few fights not having one. Lol just saying.

Kyle G. and motocross25 Thank this.
