If I have a CDL A in the states and want to move to Canada to drive

Now they use internal wet disk brakes. A bunch of friction and steel disks togeather in oil. There is a large piston and when you apply oil to that piston the clutches grab eachother stoping the unit.

Am a heavy equipment mechanic for a nickle mining company but ended up on strike a while ago. Have wanted my A for some time and will be doing school in 2 weeks. Have some buddies who have offered seat time.

 

Interesting. Now I have learned 2 things today, one from you and one from Rick, I can go back to bed. I should have thought nickel when I saw Sudbury as your home. Not a good time to be on strike with the economy being what it is. I was hoping to get on at Atlin or Iskut in B.C. just because I like the area but both developments are on hold.

Little more info you prolly don't need but BC hydro is currently doing right of way planning for a fair sized line from Terrace to I believe Bob Quinn lake. from what I have heard a lot of mines are sitting on the fence with the "Green power " inscentive thing. might be worth looking into

 

Are they going North to towards the Nass and then East? Iskut isn't that far from Bob Quinn Lake.

 

I don't know the details on where it ends if you check The BC hydro web site I think you click on projects, they call this one Northwest transmission line, I believe

 

is the age requirements for your class 1 in Canada the same as the requirements for the class A in the US?

 

Last time I checked you had to be liscenced for 2 years' pass the graduated liscence test and be a minimum of 18 years old, In alberta at least , you also have to pass a air course. Some other provinces may be 19 years min.

 

Thanks! ya thats how it is in Texas, you can git your intra-state @ 18 if youve had a regular license for 2yrs and you pass the written test!

 

18yrs and minimum 2yrs class 5 license as well here in manitoba.

 

is a class 5 the equivilant for a class a here in the US or???? thanks for the reply!
