Now they use internal wet disk brakes. A bunch of friction and steel disks togeather in oil. There is a large piston and when you apply oil to that piston the clutches grab eachother stoping the unit.
Am a heavy equipment mechanic for a nickle mining company but ended up on strike a while ago. Have wanted my A for some time and will be doing school in 2 weeks. Have some buddies who have offered seat time.![]()

Interesting. Now I have learned 2 things today, one from you and one from Rick, I can go back to bed. I should have thought nickel when I saw Sudbury as your home. Not a good time to be on strike with the economy being what it is. I was hoping to get on at Atlin or Iskut in B.C. just because I like the area but both developments are on hold.

Little more info you prolly don't need but BC hydro is currently doing right of way planning for a fair sized line from Terrace to I believe Bob Quinn lake. from what I have heard a lot of mines are sitting on the fence with the "Green power " inscentive thing. might be worth looking into

is the age requirements for your class 1 in Canada the same as the requirements for the class A in the US?

Last time I checked you had to be liscenced for 2 years' pass the graduated liscence test and be a minimum of 18 years old, In alberta at least , you also have to pass a air course. Some other provinces may be 19 years min.Texas Diesel Junkie Thanks this.

18yrs and minimum 2yrs class 5 license as well here in manitoba.
